A Letter To A Community Leader
Dear Mr. Ly !
I am a student from Royal University of Phnom Penh, and something I felt strongly concern about is the insecurity in our community. I am so passionate and afraid because of this situation for two reasons. Firstly, I and other villagers sometimes lose our own property, and especially the argument always happen in the middle of the night, so it make people feel uncomfortable to sleep in the night and feel so stressful. For example, groups of ganisters and drug addicts often have argument with each other almost every times and everywhere. It leads people live with uncomfortable standard. Moreover, thieves always steal our wealthy, we sometimes hang the clothes outside our house for few hours, it is gone with nothing.
Secondly, there are lots of computer games store and domestic violence. Once I saw some of local authorities came to check with internet store, yet they said to the people that it is nothing because they took price form the shop owner. On the other hand, for domestic violence it is a serious situation in our block, it happened because of unknowledgeable and especially the social issue. People seem so less attention with educational case in our community. They do not think in the deep meaning of quality of education, in their concept, most of them never give the value for educational value. One of the villager said, “I do not dare to send my children to school because our family is not rich enough, attending school spend much money so I need to keep them to help my housework rather than study at school”. I do hope that all situations I have mentioned above will become the best clue in order to make our community get peaceful living, stability, security and harmony. One another, you should investigate your down line and check for their mistake, if they commit corruption; they would dismiss and get the strong punishment. You have better cooperate closely with the villagers, and one more thing is to open the free speech for people to raise

In the small community of Dharavi, there are a total of 1 million people. They are all within the same area which means they are very close in a lot of areas. As a way of income, each are involved in different jobs, but looking at ragpickers they only make one dollar a day. So in one year, they would make $365. That isn’t enough to live on, but it makes due for them. They live in a different society that views money differently. Yet, that is still not enough to live off of. They pay their bills, food, and necessities they might need. Then we look at education. The children have to pay to go to school, unlike us who can go for free and must go. Since their money issues are very difficult, most children have problems going to get an education. That being said, there are a lot of uneducated children over there. Though there are programs with volunteers that are trying to help those who are uneducated. Despite all that, whether or not the members of the community know each other they are still very similar in social class.…

Thank you so much for all that you do for Howard County. Mount Hebron High School is greatly appreciative of your help in creating a better school environment. The 2,000 dollar grant has been used to create a native plant garden in the senior courtyard. We decided that native plants would be the best plan as it conserves water, time, and money. This way we could do more with the money that was graciously given. It would be our greatest honor to have you attend the Mount Hebron ribbon cutting ceremony in the early fall of 2017. You would be able to see all the effort and work that the Mount Hebron staff and students have put into this project. We thank you for your time and we really hope that you will be able to…

I am writing you today as a concerned member of your congregation. Recently, I found myself on the doorstep of an old, breath-takingly beautiful cathedral, but I stumbled in only to realize that I, a devout Lutheran, am not allowed to receive communion. My lack of knowledge on the Eucharist and the guidelines the Catholic church has placed on this sacrament lead to a response of hostility and hurt on this particular guideline. I am writing to tell you that my response of hostility and hurt was wrong, and dangerous for me and my faith. To come to this conclusion, you must first understand the history behind Catholic communion, the Catholic view on transubstantiation, acceptance in relation to the Eucharist, the…

We are writing to you to advocate for the continuance of Miss. Degenhardt’s (Profe) teaching career at Darien High School. We write with the purpose to make you aware of Profe’s profound impact on the community and the growth of her students both in the context of academics and ethics; her notable qualities and dedication to her profession are of a role model. While Profe’s style of teaching is unorthodox at some points, this unorthodoxy provides students with a diverse and meaningful education in an otherwise, orthodox day. A quality that is central to Profe’s teaching and persona is her receptiveness to student opinion, which in our opinion should be a constant in all student-teacher relationships. For example, if a student feels that a decision in terms of either a grade or punishment she made was unjust, Profe is fully open to a one-on-one discussion, either during a mutual free or before or after school. Profe’s actions reject the notion of “my way or the highway” and epitomize the characteristic of open-mindedness: a quality that is crucial in our increasingly globally connected society. For a personal anecdote, during a student’s sophomore year he felt that he did not deserve grade X; therefore, he approached Profe and asked to meet with her before school. The student and Profe discussed the grade and while the grade remained unchanged, he had a better understanding as to why he received grade X and how he can avoid receiving grade X in the future. In another, unrelated circumstance, Profe organizes an annual in-class food drive to afford families in the Bronx a decent Thanksgiving meal, which reveals her altruism and devotion to paying it forward. Moments such as these are what define Profe’s impact and overall career to DHS and academia. As a community, we are here to support a teacher who has supported us. Thank you in advance for your time.…

It is with great concern that I am writing this letter to address the public health of our community. Recently, there have been a number of children and adults who have strangely started to develop similar illnesses. The one thing each of these people has in common is that they all live right here in our community. My feels were that these sudden illnesses were not a matter of coincidence but instead a matter or poor practice. This feeling has proven to be accurate. Upon further investigation, it is has come to light that the reckless policies of our local gas company are endangering the health of our community. Contamination testing done on our water supply as well as soil tests shows extremely high amounts of a toxic chemical that is used by the gas company. This chemical that the company is releasing into our community has been linked to various illnesses that are similar to the ones experienced by our citizens. Interviews with two former employees of the gas company reveal that they were aware of this chemical leaking into our community water supply but the issue continually got swept under the rug. It was these employees belief that the company felt there was not enough of the toxic chemical being leaked to cause health problems. They are not aware as to how our local gas company came up with this irresponsible solution but we are aware as to how it has caused life-threatening illness among our community. Management at the company had no response when asked if they were aware of contamination so it is apparent that we must speak out as a community. Although not all of you have been affected by this shocking behavior, you are bound to be in the future unless we take the appropriate steps. We must unite together and demand changes in the company’s policies so that they are no longer poisoning the citizens of our tight knit community. We shall not give up this fight until we have reached a solution that keeps our health the…

On the other hand, we have a poor family. A person that was born to a poor family has been exposed to a lot of worries about financial situation. Most likely, the person at the early age had to think how to support a family or just help them out. Most likely that person will have to work along with going to school, of course the job will take away concentration from school. There will be a little chance that the person will finish high school or even go to college. The family will show little or no support for the higher education, because they will look at the short run problems, they need money now, not four years from now. Secondly, the person will not be as motivated to go to school of higher education as the person who was born to a rich family. The surrounding of that person does not provide the proper environment for the logical thinking in terms of long term life goals, because most likely the family will live in the area that is consistent with their income. ! Meaning that the child will never get a chance to see the full meaning of completing the higher education. To every rule there are always…
