A Mid Summer Night Dream by William Shakespear There are several different charactors in A Mid Summer Night Dream. There is Puck, he was one of the fairies with the love potion. Nick Bottom was a man in town who always thought that he was the best part for the plays going on in town. Helena is in more of the dramatic scenes in the play. She has two men basically fighting for her love. Oberon is the king of the fairies and is the reason for Puck's love potion pranks. Tatania is the beautiful queen of the fairies. Lysander is a young man of Athens who is in love with Hermia. Demetrius was initially in love with Hermia and then turned out in love with Helena. Hermia is in love with Lysander and is a childhood friend of Helena. All of the charactors have their own different, altered personalities. Puck is also known as Robin Goodfellow. He is Oberon's michievous jester. He yearns to play pranks on the humans in the story. Puck is the closest thing the play has to a protagonist. His antics are the reasoning for there to be chaos and drama in the play.: he is graceful but not so saccharine as the other fairies; as Oberon’s jester, he is given to a certain coarseness, which leads him to transform Bottom’s head into that of an ass merely for the sake of enjoyment. He is good-hearted but capable of cruel tricks. Puck and I would be good friends because he has a fun-loving soul. He can be sort of mean with the pranks he plays, but, I would still see us being good friends. Nick Bottom was a very arrogant, cocky man. He wanted to be the main star in every play that was going on in town. He was extrememly happy when he found out that he was chosen to play Pyramus in the craftsmen's play for Theseus's marriage celebration. Nick wants to be full of advice and everybody look up to him, but, he often misuses his language and makes silly mistakes. Bottom and I would not be very

The use of fairies demonstrate the havoc and mischevious acts that reflect on the play, and shows Gwen how little she had to control it and acts as a catalyst for her to change. Tom plays Puck in the opening scene; a naughty prankster up to trouble. We see the similarities in the first Act when he tells Gwen that he hopes she has a rotten holiday, and that she will become ill.…

In A Midsummer Night 's Dream, Shakespeare creates in Bottom, Oberon, and Puck distinctive characters who represent different aspects of himself. Like Bottom, Shakespeare aspires to rise socially; he has ambitions, and interacts with the queen, however marginally. Through Bottom, Shakespeare mocks these pretensions within himself. Then again, Shakespeare also resembles Oberon, controlling the magic we see on the stage; unseen, he and Oberon pull the strings that make the characters act as they do and say what they say. And finally, Shakespeare is like Puck, standing back from the other characters, able to see their weaknesses and laugh at them, and enjoying some mischief…

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a comedy by William Shakespeare that takes place in Athens, Greece and in the forest where chaos unfolds on four lovers: Hermia, Lysander, Helena, and Demetrius. In these relationships the men are in power, belittling the women. Also, in the forest chaos happens between the fairies, King Oberon and Queen Titania, because he puts a potion on her and other in which the men are in control of the society they are in. An example of patriarchy is in the relationships between Theseus and Hippolyta, Lysander and Hermia, and Demetrius and Helena when the men take control. Throughout the play the men have power over the women, as…

Gow has set up a simple story set in the late 1960’s about three different families with their own sets of issues taking a holiday at the end of the school year. Although this particular journey may seem to be a physical journey, it’s simply a metaphor for the inner journey that each character from each family takes to reach a stage of restoration and hope. From the very beginning of the play Gow incorporates “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” into his own work by beginning his own drama with the ending of Shakespeare’s play with the character Tom playing “Puck”. This is extremely significant as Gow uses his play as a comparison or rather an appropriation of Shakespeare’s drama using Tom as the centre of activity and the character that initiates action. This interweaves beautifully with the character Puck as he is the fairy that directs the other fairies in Shakespeare’s drama. Gow has shown his audience who the main character is and by placing Tom in the role of “Puck” he tells viewers that it is Tom who is going to be the centre of the journeys taking place in the…

When introduced to the idea of fairies, I was a bit distraught. I was filled with enjoyment because the plot seemed so realistic! Discouraged from reading the play, I found myself wondering, what on earth could be the position of these fairies in the forest? Noticing that I was wondering about the fairies, made me realize that I actually was interested; otherwise I wouldn’t be thinking about it. What a premeditated man Shakespeare is! These fairies were passionate about disrupting the love affairs of surrounding humans. Ha! He just made it more interesting.…
