Rising Action: One night, Hermia and Lysander met somewhere private to discuss their plans about escaping Athens and getting married about a day later in Lysander’s Aunt’s house. Hermia told her friend Helena, who was once engaged to Demetrius and still loves him even though he “dumped” her after meeting Hermia. Hoping to regain his love, Helena tells Demetrius about that plans that Hermia and Lysander have planned. When Demetrius finds out, he stalks Hermia and Lysander into the woods after his bride and her lover; Helena follows behind him. In the same woods are two very different groups of characters. The first is a group of fairies, including Oberon, the fairy king, and Titania, his queen. The second is a group of Athenian craftsmen rehearsing a play that they hope to perform for the duke and his bride. Oberon and Titania are arguing over a young prince introduced to Titania by the prince’s mother; the boy is so beautiful that Oberon wishes to make him a knight, but Titania refuses. Oberon sends his servant, Puck, to get a magical flower, and the blue the juice of the flower can be spread over a sleeping person’s eyelids to make that person fall in love with the first thing he or she sees when they wake up.
