This story is a kind of sad and sorrow, Emily was a unhappy girl who lost her father and later she discovered that her fiancé was homosexual, this was too much for her and she decide to kill her boyfriend and live with the dead body for 40 years until she died.
Here we can see that she doesn’t’ live in real life, she was in a fantasy, her pain turn her in a fantasy and she create a barrier; she was totally outside of reality, analyzing the title of this story, “a rose for Emily” I believe that rose means; pain and at the same time means love and death, symbolizes the passing of time in the life of Emily, the rose has thorns that reflect the character of Miss Emily distant and sour. The pink color looks in the room where the main character hides her fiancé Homer Barron.
This happen in real life, sometimes when we have problems instead of faced it we act like the problem is not there, we live out of reality, we prefer to believe that don’t have problems and this is worst that the real problem.
