Unfortunately, like many teenage relationships it doesn't last. Lynne breaks up with
Asofa, leaving him heart broken. An example that shows this is “so im saying goodbye and thanks and I love you”. Young love is an important theme because it relates to many teenagers. The third important theme in the love story is family conflict. This theme is shown in the text when Asofa`s family disagrees with his Maori girlfriend Lynne. This however causes a family conflict between both their families. A quote from the text shows that
“Why can't you find a nice Samoan girl, perhaps from the church’’.
A family conflict has an important theme because there are many teenagers who live in a country with many diverse cultures.
In conclusion, this short love story written by Bernard Gadd, had three main points.
