A Treasure Chest
Pose. Click. Post. This is how we do pictures in the digital world now. Gone are the days when we have those film strips and have them developed and placed in photo albums. But I have one, which compiles pictures I had in high school and recent pictures in college. I started to keep this album since third year high school but I started compiling since grade school. When we transferred to San Fernando in La Union, I lost most of my pictures. I became frustrated and from there I stopped. It was in third year high school when I realized that pictures are starting to accumulate again and compiling them is not a bad idea. So, I decided to make a scrapbook/photo album and now I consider it as one of my most valued possession. Creating and keeping it had showed me how creative, happy and unique I am.
First, it showcases my creativity, if there’s such. I categorized the pictures and each category should have a unique theme. For instance, a page for my lunch buddies would have a theme about foods. I did the letterings too for the title blocks and captions of the pictures. Each page, as much as possible, should have a different font or style from the other, so, I need to exhaust all the fonts that I know. I also made some of the templates and frames of the pictures. I used scrapbook materials and cut-outs from magazines and tried to turn them into something worthy to be called as frames and templates.
Aside from proving that I have creative juices in my body, it has also proven how happy I am. Every time I flip those pages and take a glance at each picture, I cannot help but smile. The album is a concrete evidence of how happy my high school life has been. It contains class pictures, both formal and wacky; pictures from Christmas parties and other school activities; and random pictures of me with my friends. It reminds me that there are people who have entered my life and caused a curve in my face which was captured by the camera.
Finally, not everyone today has a photo

Just like the reading states where it became a way for black people to come out and be noticed and respected; to be represented. Photographs show the truth in the lives of people, in our country, in the world, past, present, and sometimes even the future. The images that are portrayed always have a much deeper truth then what can just be seen with a quick glance. The author talks about how her parents took photos of her family and their lives constantly. The reason for this being that there is a deeper truth behind it. They weren’t able to express themselves in the past and so much of their lives had been lost. Therefore, they were taking every opportunity to capture and cherish…

Just as poetry is a permanent mark of feelings that last forever on paper, tattoos are permanent symbols that last forever on the skin. Tattoos and poetry can easily be combined such as in Kim Addonizio’s sonnet, “First Poem for You,” the speaker admires her partner’s nature themed tattoos in a darkened room. This may seem to be a simple poem, but by utilizing tattoos as symbols, including tactile and visual imagery in her poem, and using the sonnet as her structure, Addonizio laments about the true meaning of relationships and their longevity.…

    Senior Project proposal

For my senior project I chose photography. I chose this topic because a photo can capture any memory, history or emotion and never change, even when history, memories and emotions are. My hours will be spent learning new vocabulary and learning how to capture a photo of anything from a calm nature scene to a fast-paced hockey game. The product of my project will be printed photos that I have taken over the course of my project. I will demonstrate my knowledge to the judges through a slide show of my slowly improved photos. I have asked and chosen Matt Moehr as my mentor; he is qualified to be my mentor because he is the professional photographer for the Star News. I will spend my hours photographing hockey games, high school sports and taking senior photos for my fellow peers and other students from McCall-Donnelly high school. I will spend approximately 200 dollars on this project. I will pay for this project through my job at DeLish Catering.…

A tragic hero is defined as “a [great] man who is neither a paragon of virtue and justice nor undergoes the change to misfortune through any real badness or wickedness but because of some mistake” (“Aristotle”, n.d.). Therefore, a tragic hero has some sort of tragedy that surrounds their life. A tragic hero also makes dramas more interesting and makes readers think. Dramas sometimes either exemplify or refute Aristotle’s definition of a tragic hero. Oedipus by Sophocles exemplifies Aristotle’s definition in four different aspects. The first aspect involves both Oedipus’ ignorance and knowledge of his life situations, the second involves his hamartia, the third involves the actual plot itself, and the fourth involves the characterization of…

Upon taking the strength assessment, my top five signature strengths were achiever, input, adaptability, context, and relator. My first reaction of receiving these strengths were, this is pretty accurate of the person I am. Reading the description of each strength, I see myself doing what the description lays out. Like for achiever, I do approach every day at zero meaning I do not have any tasks I put off or anything left behind. However, I do note to myself that I have a set tasks in that day to complete and I do feel a sense of achievement when I complete a task.…

It seem that as I grew older I still wanted to have fun. I like to think now that it was the beginning at an attempt to hold onto my childhood spirit, but it would seem that even children have to mature one day. And as I stared at the picture, jotting down notes on my feelings and ideas, I couldn't help but draw my mind to grade 9. Again, the memories were of good company and myself having fun. Only this time we were in high school, our ambitions soared. I felt like I just passed over a mountain. Elementary schools over, 10 years of the same school and same people gone! It was time to act like a high school student.…
