A NON- RELIGIOUS PERSPECTIVE AGAINST EUTHANASIA
What if you were given the option to kill your mother of father because they were terminal ill and the doctors were sure they wouldn't survive. Would you do it? Euthanasia is the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for his or her alleged benefit (assis,.lted suicide). I was once present when my family was offered a prescriptions for lethal medications for my grandfather, the vents that unraveled after that was extraordinary. The idea of euthanasia has been present in history since before 400b.c. Since then their has been many arguments for or against euthanasia. Euthanasia is another form of suicide it is assisted suicide, an option often taken once contorted with burdensome situations. Most justify assisted suicide as a form to relive extreme pain, it frees up medical funds, and it's a matter of freedom of choice. However they are many underlining antagonistic effects if euthanasia was made legal. There are also inevitable factors that no argument can compete with; the emotional toll it takes on ones life is so extraordinary that might make it hard to ignore. About 400 B.C in the "The Hippocratic Oath" the father of medicine once said "I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel" The Hippocratic Oath is perhaps the most widely known of Greek medical texts. It requires a new physician to swear upon a number of healing gods that he will uphold a number of professional ethical standards. Even ancient philosophers knew this wasn't the right thing to do so why change it now? Legalizing assisted suicide would be violating "The Hippocratic Oat" or the goal of a medical practitioner to search for the well being of a patience.
