Adolescent Observation Paper Essay Example
During the summer, our local grade school provides library, lunch and supervised recess (in the air-conditioned gym) free of charge for our community children. This summer I have been employed by my school to supervise the gym activities. The ages range from 2 to 18, include girls and boys and some parents who are there to supervise their younger children. The racial composition of the school and the gym-goers is not representative of the US population. This smaller rural school is mostly Caucasian, with roughly 5% of the population being Black and 5% being Hispanic. Other races make up less than ½ % of the school’s demographic. This is also roughly the racial make-up of the gym-goers that I was supervising and observing this summer. The community has two local day cares that frequently bring several of the children up to play, along with some high school students that were former students here (we are a feeder school for the high school in the larger neighboring community). Because the grade school is small (K-8 with only one grade of each offered), the gym itself is also not very big. I am guessing that it is approximately 100 x 50 feet. The gym is open from noon to 2 p.m., Monday through Thursday the entire summer. I usually have about 25 kids show up and play continuously for a solid hour and then they dwindle away as the time passes. That hour is where I have done most of my observations for this assignment. To being, it has been very interesting to watch children of so many ages interact. The gym has been broken up into 3 parts – as a result of the games that the children want to play. One half of the gym is for basketball, the other end is for kick ball and the side portion is for scooters. The basketball court is mainly the high school boys. When they need another player, they invite me to play. I gladly accept, enjoying the sport myself. They tend to keep to themselves, occasionally and briefly joining in the kick ball game, but

Children learn and develop best when they are healthy, safe and secure, when their individual needs are met and when they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them. We promote health and well being in our setting by providing children with activities indoor and outdoor. We provide a bright and light environment full of different activities set out in two different areas of the school in two separate rooms. We provide activities child-led and adult-led, all children are encouraged to get involved and treated equally. The activities will help to stimulate a child’s mind and help them to gain new experiences to help develop all their skills. The temperature of the room is important and ideally would be between 18-21 degrees. If a room temperature is too high it would help spread bacteria. We provide physical development and this is to help strengthen their muscles and also strengthens their heart, lungs and bones to. When we exercise it helps strengthen all the parts of our body which helps us to keep fit and also healthy. Being able to keep active helps to stimulate other parts of the body as it is good for our mind, body and soul. When we do physical exercise the blood pumps round our body at a faster rate which increase the heart rate and helps to strengthen the muscles around the heart. Physical activities can be held in door or outdoors. We have an outside play area in our setting and have daily activities outside to help development children’s physical strength. We provide bikes and scooters for children to use and this helps strengthen their legs muscles for pushing themselves around, body core for balance and steering to strengthen their hands and arms. We also have a Caterpillar climbing frame so the children can climb and jump off, this helps strengthen their muscles and also gives a child the importance of balancing risk and…

On the first floor are the basketball courts, racquetball courts, aerobics room, rock wall, and swimming pool. On the second floor there is a track that goes around the basketball courts, a large weight room with the cardio machines next to it, and then a free weights area with a few machines off to the side. The first floor tends to be occupied by groups of people. The first floor provides activates for teams or groups, such as a pick-up game of basketball. The aerobics room attracts mostly women with very few men attending the classes. The second floor tends to be more segregated and separated. The cardio machines are a free for all for both genders but the ellipticals are heavily occupied by women. The weights machines are where almost all of the men spend the majority of their time; very little you will find women working out amongst the men on the weight machines. The free weights off to the side are where women who want to use weights mostly go. It is secluded, if you might not know exactly what you are doing or are not in peak physical condition this area provides a more private setting with less traffic. The layout of the gym provides almost everyone with an area they can go where they feel most comfortable. People in great physical attention tend to be in the areas that are more open while people who are just starting to work out or work on their physical fitness tend to migrate to the areas that are more…

Gymboree is a program designed to help children learn and develop through play. This is a unique program because it incorporates parents within the program. The program I evaluated was a preschool prep program designed for children from the age of 28 months to 3 years old. Preschool prep is structured like a preschool class and helps the child prepare for when they start preschool. The class I evaluated was held two days a week from 2:30-4:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I attended the Tuesday class on October 15, 2015. Gymboree has locations across the country; however, I attended the one located at Valencia Mall in Valencia, CA. Demographically, 76% of the population is Caucasian (source?). Valencia is a suburb of Los Angeles, and is known…

The department of Education is required to create district plans for PE. Their last report was written in 1982. Since then childhood and adult obesity has been recognized as a significant public health issue. In 2002, a team of public health scientists and nurses found that over 50 percent of kindergarteners through fifth graders were overweight or obese. All of this is going on, yet schools are still getting rid of gym class. They find it a waste of money since nobody shows up or even tries; all because it’s not counted for a grade. Getting rid of gym class will just make obesity rates rise.…

The child I am observing (Child N), is a five-year six-month old boy who attends a public school located in the West Village area of Manhattan. He is classified as being speech impaired. As per classroom teachers, he is bright in the sense that there are some tasks he is able to complete without verbal cues such as sorting, and an inquisitive child in the sense that shows interest in new things and people. My first day he stared at me nearly the entire time I was in the class. He demonstrates delays in most areas of development. Child N receives speech therapy individually two times a week for thirty minutes in a separate location and in a group of three, once a week, for thirty minutes in a separate location. He receives occupational…

In answering Steve’s comment about the destiny of the unsaved certain definitions need to be dealt with along with reference made available to us and I have just what we need. Steve I understand what you have read and the comment was made from the standpoint of the author “Clark Pinnock.” However, if you will allow me to answer your questions in defining words such as; “Hades, Gehenna, Sheol, Eternal punishment, Annihilationism, Universalism, Hell and Apokatastasis. You also asked the difference between Hades and Sheol. Since we are dealing with Sotereology, Eschatology and Ecclesiology it is only fair that we reference the Word of God. Our definitions will come from Elwell Evangelical Dictionary of Theology and some citing from Towns, Theology for Today.…
