INTRODUCTION
Bubble Tea was invented in Taiwan in the 80’s when tea brewers started to add tapioca pearls to their teas. This novelty was well received customers and the drink became quickly popular in the entire country. A decade later, bubble tea started to spread among most parts of East and Southeast Asia. Nowadays the drink is remarkably popular within the Asian communities of Australia, Canada and the United States. But the term “bubble tea” is a very general term for what it represents; depending on the ingredients used, one can choose from a wide range of bubble teas, all different from each other.
The beverage is based on either a type of black or green tea, and according to one 's preference other flavours can be added, such as syrups, powders or fresh fruits. When adding flavor, the tea and flavoring needs to be shaken well for a good all around taste. This forms bubbles in the drink, and this is where the name "bubble tea” comes from. Furthermore, extras like tapioca pearls or other flavoured pearls and jelly can be poured in, and you can drink it cold or hot.
Bubble tea is the hottest drink in Asia today, growing in popularity each and every day. While this type of tea has been covered in numerous magazines and newspapers, people are still learning about this funky new drink. In fact its unique presentation makes people interested in what the buzz is all about.
