First of all, in the analects of Confucius the master mentioned “He who rules by virtue is like the polestar, which remains unmoving in its mansion while all the other stars revolve respectfully around it.” (The Analects of Confucius, 2.1)This means that if emperor rules with virtue the people will support him thus the empire will remain prosperous. This is fairly true, throughout the Chinese history the ones who rule with virtue instead of levying a heavy taxation among the people are being respect and supported by their people.
Secondly, Zigong once asked Confucius about government and he answered “Sufficient food, sufficient weapon, and the trust of the people” (The Analects of Confucius, 12.7) and also mentioned that among all the three elements the trust of the people is the most essential one after all “ without the trust of the people, no government can stand” ( The Analects of Confucius, 12.7) This viewpoint still fits the modern society, we know that the establishment of democracy is based on the trust of people thus without trust it is hard for a government to operate smoothly.
Another part that also worth paying attention on is that Confucius claimed that teaching with respect to the aptitude of the students is important, he acknowledged different aspects of good governing.
