Project Management Plan & Presentation
(Team Activity)
Description
For your term project your team will select a project idea from the list at the end of this handout and create a realistic project management plan and PowerPoint presentation for it. No two teams may select the same project.
To create your project management plan, you may use materials from the course, the PMBOK, assignments, and the resources of the RIT library, the web, newspapers, magazines, professional journals, interviews with experts, and any appropriate reference source. You must correctly cite all references and quotations that you use. If your team wishes to confer with other class teams as an aid to thinking through issues related to your project, that is permissible, but the final project plan must be solely the work of your team.
♫ Note: Your plan should clearly demonstrate to a reader that you understand the project in terms of the triple constraint (performance or scope, cost, and schedule).
Goal
The goal of this term project is for you to create a project plan that lays the foundation for a successful project. In all the project management literature today, the emphasis is not only on having technical knowledge and skills but also on having soft skills such as communication, cultural understanding, and business and political savvy. Your plan must indicate that you’ve considered all skills and resources required for the successful project manager.
Project Selection
After your team has chosen its project, post your selection (and a short proposal) to the appropriate Discussion folder in myCourses. Your proposal must include:
Name and short description of the project
Estimated cost (greater than $50,000)
Estimated schedule (at least 6 months)
List of major deliverables
Due
Both your final Project Management Plan and Presentation are at the end of the course. See content for exact date. Post both files to the appropriate Dropbox in myCourses.
