Dear Friend
Dear Friend,
It is great that you are so fascinated in the internet that we use, I am more than happy to answer your questions to help you understand better. The internet does make life so much better and much faster to obtain information these days other than waiting for information to come to the television or reading this information in the newspapers. This helps many business people and parents who are always on the go. The best way to know if the internet is reliable and credible is to always double check your question or answer if you feel that there may be a chance that you are obtaining the wrong information. Educate the users of the internet and teach each individual what not to go onto and what not to look up. There are many viruses that can affect our computers also when we mis-use the internet. Usually you try to stay away from sites that are well known to give out the wrong information such as Wikipedia or Ask. For me personally I have learned a lot about what sites to stay away from during my school classes and discussion questions, I always use to use Wikipedia and with attending school it has taught me to open my eyes and see what wrong information I was receiving. One of my favorite websites would be Web MD and my student online library, I have found nothing but the right information on there and I have also verified with teachers and doctors to be sure also. Always double check yourself there is no wrong in doing that. You also asked me about digital divide, this term is referred to people who do have access to the internet and then the other side is for people who do not have access to the internet. You can also compare this to people who do and do not have a smart phone or a home computer. I personally do feel that this divide can be put together and many Americans and families overseas can obtain a computer and have access to the internet. Many people raise money for a lot of beneficial things; why not add the fact of helping

This comical take on the socialization of the Internet is extreme. Today, we need both pond-skaters and scuba divers; we need to master the ability to access facts while reserving time and space to do something meaningful with them. It is true our technologies are changing us, but in ways we can neither anticipate nor control. Because of the instant access to the Internet, we are able to get answers faster and more efficiently; this gives us an advantage toward learning, and in return can affect us. Overall I feel that if the Internet is being overused, therefore there may be long term gradual effects. I’m willing to take risk the chance, if I’m learning; soaking up new information in the process. Lastly, Carr says: "As we come to rely on computers to mediate our understanding of the world, it is our own intelligence that flattens into artificial intelligence." This may be true, if you wrongly abuse your sources of information; just as anything can be misused. Take and use what we have when we need it, not just only when we want it and have to have…

Overall the internet has many pros and many cons. Some people believe that it is a good thing, some people believe it is a bad thing, and some people think it is both. I feel like we are blaming the internet for this problem when really it is the human's decision to be obsessed and attached to the internet and…

    Water Rocket Lab Report

A model rocket is fired vertically from an elevated launch pad at an initial height of 4 feet at an initial velocity of 350 feet per second. The gravitational force of Earth is pulling the rocket down at a rate of 16 feet per second per second. The formula for, s(t), for the function that models the height of the water balloon at time t, in seconds, is s(t)= -16t2 + 350t + 4. We can determine how long it takes for the rocket to land from the graph where the function intercepts the x-axis because this is the value where the height of the rocket is 0 feet. From the graph, we can see that the rocket lands in 21.886 seconds. It would not make sense for there to be a negative x-value, or a negative y-value since one cannot go back in time, and the rocket cannot go below the…

It’s the decision of people to analyze the benefits and also be knowledgeable of the dangers of the internet. If people depend on the internet for everything they may run the risk of becoming "Pancake people". I think people should keep hold of their common sense and assess where the internet fits in their life and not allow it to corrupt their minds.…

M.D. Bowles, author of our textbook, Introduction to Digital Literacy, explains the digital divide and how demographic, being underprivileged as well as those who live in underdeveloped countries play a part in the digital divide. The author goes on to state that factors such as age, income and educational attainment can influence an American adult 's access to the Internet. Those with disabilities are also less likely to use the Internet. Bowles refers to the old adage, "Knowledge is power." Bowes feels that ethical issues come to play in this digital divide because with this divide, the world would be split into two different categories, the “information-haves and have-nots”. Bowles feels that if there is a grand effort to bridge the gap by introducing all to the world of computers, then everyone can become digitally literate and the knowledge is shared amongst everyone equally. (Bowles, 2013.).…

I just wanted to see if I can help you understand a little about the internet and answer some of the questions you have for me. In the beginning you had to have a phone line, but the big cable companies started to use the cable system to transfer the data making it faster and more reliable. Private companies would start-up web browsers and search engines, internet service providers and email; all quickly changed the landscape and the culture around us. Many people became rich and powerful, but along with them came the scammers and those that were less ethical. Because of them the reliability of what you were reading, viewing or watching became suspect. There was so much money to be made because the net had exploded into almost every household in America. You had asked how to check the reliability of what you are reading; there are many ways to do this.…

There are more cons than pros for the Internet. Nicholas Carr has many great pieces of evidence to support his thesis. I agree because the Internet can take you down many wrong paths but at the same time technology is our future. Today people are not focusing on trying to improve our future, they are worried about today’s fashion or video games or celebrities. One of the studies Carr looked at was by Cornell which figured out that web surfing does distract students. This is good information for schools on how to help their students learn in the best way, and stay on track. The neuroscientist named Michael Merzenich made a very dramatic reason what the long-term effects of the Internet. Merzenich said the Internet could lead to death, which could be right but we don’t have any proof at the moment. At the same time, I think the Internet is a great source for information. I wish Carr talked a little about how the Internet also has important information…

The Internet and other forms of technology have been involved in the reformation of our lives. The article, "Is Google Making Us Stupid," by Nicholas Carr primarily focuses on the influence of the internet on our thinking behaviors, while in the article "Another Look Back, and a Look Ahead," by Edward Tenner mainly focuses on advances and setbacks of that go hand in hand with technology. In the modern world, technology has been an extremely vital well of knowledge that contributes to our lives. The internet includes all sorts of information on all topics one can think of. It allows for us to answer all of our questions with a very simple steps. Even though the internet and technology are undeniably important assets of the modern world, people should rely more on their skills rather than relying on technology for all their necessities. The ability to socialize with others is more important than the internet. It is the basis of our lives and the only method of communication between human beings. There have been more cases of social awkwardness than ever before, and it is believed to be connected with the internet. Simply sitting down in front of a monitor and searching for all that we need isolates us from those around us and takes away some of our social abilities, thus making it harder and more awkward to get back into society.…

It is nice to hear back from you and I would be glad to answer each one of your questions to the best of my ability. There are a lot of things that can be done on the internet. The internet is a wonderful thing to have access to. Having access to the internet can open up a new light to a whole different world. The internet connects people all over the world. The internet gives a person access to lots and lots of information that can be very valuable to them. It is very important in a lot of cases to know rather or not the information that you have accessed is reliable or not. Not know rather or not the information is reliable can cause some major problems. The way that I determine rather or not the information that I access is reliable is by looking for the author’s information so I can know who to give credit to for the information. I consider information credible when it contains a citation. I like to use information that is peer-reviewed because that to means that it is credible because it has been reviewed by other people and deemed to be credible. Knowing if information is credible is important but it is also important to know what to look for the signs that information may not be credible. I prefer to not use information if an author is not known unless I can prove it too credible in other ways. I do not like to use information that can be edited by other people because the information may be their opinion instead of a true fact. I do not like to use information that is out-dated because things in the world is changing at a rapid…

The world wide web is comparable to a vast jungle, spanning millions of miles, bursting with an excess of information that is constantly feeding in and out of the population’s brain. Ever since the release of the internet to the public in the late 1980’s, the United States has allowed its citizens to connect technologically. Commonly known as the the literal “center” of most humans’ lives, the internet is home to many different groups of people, with various messages. It may not seem obvious to a normal reader, however, most online sources are deceiving. Many online or non-traditional sources divert from the truth and provide the reader with false propaganda, to persuade an action or belief in favor of the source.…

I work in an industry filled with people who claim “the internet was the worst thing to happen to the second oldest industry”. This people are not dumb by any stretch of the imagination they all have well over 30 years’ experience and have been in the trenches. This men and woman are veterans in their own right and have been credited for helping pave the way for all the new gladiators of our profession. So, why would intelligent hard working people claim the internet, one of the most powerful and useful media is not for them? The answer is simple, fear of the unknown, but to these naysayers, I say “I am a speeding train, you are either onboard or you are lying on the tracts, either I am coming through.”…

People have suffered through not knowing the full extent of the digital age because some governments have prevented them from accessing the information super-highway known as the internet. The internet is censored because of corrupt and controlling governments and schools that think they are helping. Censorship itself is not inherently bad, but the venal tendencies of man are what cause censorship to become the main tool of dictators. The internet should be free, allowing all people of all races and creeds to access its free information. Censorship is an insidious tool that only leads to corruption and lack of creative expression.…

The Internet's definition by wikipedia is a "network of networks". The Internet has brought a lot of good points, but as with any tool, I would like to add that misuse has made the Internet bad. Remember, the Internet is a useful tool, but all that glitters is not gold. Firstly, the Internet is a place which is NOT safe for children. This is basically because of threats of pop-ups, pornography and scams that can trick the child.…
