The body has only one unsuitable form of energy, this is known as ATP. ATP releases energy when broken down and is essential to the flow of energy to living cells. It can be re synthesized through a possible three energy systems; ATP-PC system, the glycolytic Lactic Acid system and the aerobic system.
My chosen sport is trampolining the main performance in trampolining only lasts for a minute and is a high intensity sport. But in training that can be from an hour or two.
ATP PC System is the breakdown of adenosine and three phosphate molecules known as triphosphate when adenosine splits energy is created by the ATPase breaking the high energy bonds holding the ATP together. Then a PC phosphor creating a phosphate and creating break to create the energy to fix the ADP back to the PC. It lasts for 10 seconds and is for short duration sports for example shot put, jailing field and power events. There is a small amount of ATP-PC stored for initial response but once it has started to be used it resynthesizes. The ATP-PC system does not used oxygen and doesn’t create lactic acid making it and anaerobic coupled reaction. It is for low duration sports at a high intensity, this energy system may be used in trampolining when the initial bounces to gain height start as they are high intensity and take a short amount of time and then it will move into using the Lactic Acid system. It can only provide energy for brief periods of time—eight to ten seconds. The system can be used a number of times, but will eventually exhaust the “built-in” supply of ATP - even with the help of the Creatin Phosphate molecule. Another disadvantage is Rebuilding of the supply of ATP takes 24 to 48 hours.
Secondly the Lactic Acid system can reproduce ATP this is the second energy used when it can no longer use the ATP-PC system. This system relies on the
