The abominable, amiss, atrocious, awful Adewalen the Dark has terrorized the town city of Oakland California and many other places for before but its atrocities have become far worse. After all these years watching the wretched beast destroy our homes I can’t just sit here and watch anymore! I- Tyrexius shall avenge our fallen city.

Before I take on the abhorrent monster I will need training, perhaps my father “Clark the Colossal,” can train me. As I walked home I heard the shrieks of Adewalen destroying more peaceful places and I ran home. “Dad! I need your help!” I cried slamming the door behind me. “What could be so important Tyrexius?” my father asked sounding annoyed that his quiet day was finally over. “I need to defeat Adewalen,” I said hastily with my voice cracking.
“Ah- I had hoped you would come forward one of these days!” Clark exclaimed!
“What should I do first?” I asked, not asking how long had he thought I wanted to do this and why he would want me to put myself in this much danger.
“You must travel to the arctic land of Alaska and be still in the cold for 24 hours with these clothes if you want to be able to survive the icy grip of Adewalen.” Clark said handing me pretty much fresher birthday suit.
“These?” I said hesitantly hoping he had made some mistake.
“What do you want me to give you? Fur coats and an electric blanket?”
“Um… Of course not sir… I’m sorry,” I said sadly thinking there’s no way I could survive this…
“Don’t even think about returning unless you are ready for the challenge to defeat Adewalen and save our bloodline.

So off to Alaska I traveled… Once I got there I couldn’t hear anything but the sound of my heartbeat slowing. After I don’t know how long I woke up feeling reborn, the wind I once thought to be cold felt invigorating, the snow felt like soft pillows, and now the I was overwhelmed by the silence, it’s like I’m the only one on the planet. But after a few minutes of being reborn I headed

I entered into the new house, it was so empty. I could feel the weight in the air. The cold, frightening new air. I walked over to what is now my parents room, I rolled the sleeping bag onto the carpet, and slept on the floor. Something felt strange, I was sleeping on carpet. Never before had I fallen asleep on carpet. Always on hardwood floor. I recall falling asleep in sorrow, trying to grasp a little bit of hope out of myself. I tried to see the best in the situation, but all I could think about was the people I just left, all I could think about was the past. I couldn’t bring myself to the present. My mind and heart still in Ecuador, my cold body here. This was probably one of the worst moments of my life. I don’t think I have ever cried so much. I don’t think that I’ve ever felt so isolated. I didn’t know who I was. Everything that made me had the reset button pushed on it. All of my pride and courage felt lost. I felt so weak. I needed to become someone new.…

A mere twenty minutes later, I was exhausted. The sun had burst through the clouds and was basking the mountainside in violent light. I was roasting in the safety of my outer shell. As my once confident steps became desperate shuffles, I began to understand that my end was near. But I had a goal to achieve, and so I fought to deny what I knew to be true. Soon, I fell back and separated from the group. It was then that the guide made his move. He swooped down on me, looked me in the eye, and told me it was…

I was so tired, even attempting to keep my eyes open was a struggle. My whole body was achy after a hard day’s of school work, constantly staring at a computer screen and typing away, just to finish an essay. My pale white hands, frozen by the air conditioning blasting on high, were holding on to the steering wheel like a person gripping the edge of a cliff, hoping not to fall into a dark abyss. My brain wanted to give in, to remain in the sleep that I kept dangerously drifting in and out of. I took a look outside, the road looking meek. The rows if brush hoars any objects spattered off the road by vehicles in the August sun. It felt like I was going around in a circle, my tires skating around the bends and turns of the road. I felt maybe I should slow down so I do not lose…

I gazed upon beautiful pastures occupied by the utmost emaciated cows I had ever seen, assorted with goats that backed into a vast mountain range to my left, while cars and motorcycles zoomed past myself to my right as if I was moving in slow motion. I felt entangled by the chaos, but yet, I felt this internal sense of peace that I had never felt before. My eyes glistened as I took in the beauty enveloped in the disaster that stood in front of me. I drew in a breath and exhaled subsequently, at that moment prepared myself to…

The tale of an epic hero unlike any other thrives on in Beowulf, who is a powerful warrior and leader. By definition, a hero is typically a man who is greatly admired or idealized for their noble, courageous and notable qualities, exceptional achievements and brave feats. Beowulf, warrior of Geatland and King of the Swedes, battles monsters and accomplishes, no doubt, heroic deeds in this centuries-old text. In this essay, I argue the qualities of a true hero and that Beowulf possesses each of these and utilizes them in this ancient and epic tale.…

The year was 1592 in South Korea, the dark gray sky was consuming the sun inch by inch, as the people’s voices yelling and screaming from all directions, wondering what? How? Who? Quickly turning around back into the house, the dark black gate, thick with steel hovering high over the dark sky as if it were to consume anything it met. Everyone quickly running back and forth, side to side, panicking from who knows what. A sudden explosion occurred west from out house, panicking, everyone ran away (east) until they couldn’t run no more. Yelling and screaming occurred once again, but this time much…much longer. From the great distance of about 200feet another explosion, but closer, the yelling of families mixed up with friends, moms, dads, and children. Suddenly a large crowd of people screaming ran towards/past away from the explosion, then not long after than hearing more explosions along with a language I never heard of. Suddenly this became a national threat; the sirens were ringing in my ears mixed in with devastation of not being able to find anyone. Everyone you ever knew disappeared; you became alone at this moment. Instantly gripped painfully by the collar, was a man in a uniform, Japanese. The symbol on his right hand shoulder was their flag. Instantly thrown into a carriage, or more like a prison? Other boys were here, boys of all ages. Turning to see the crowd running, “BANG!” The sound shook the ground underneath, and created a ringing in the ears. Turning slowly, hesitantly, there it was the one whom was called mom, shot, dead. Screaming in terror, looking for a way out, anywhere, panicking and hitting every wall around, then darkness crept. Taken by the dark hand, the feeling of pain instantly coursed through my veins and a painful itch hurt on the head. Where was this? Dark. Cold. The squeaks of rats underneath the bed, with the feeling of a wet moist floor. It was sticky, the feet cold, it ripped the skin off of every step, staring…

The howling of the wind brought my eyes to open. Where was I? Focusing in the dark of night, confusion washed over me as I came to realize I was in the desert. Distant landscapes of dry and worn rock surrounded me, and beneath my bare feet I felt the gritty sand caught between my toes. I was surrounded by those rocky hills and yet as I scanned the desolate desert it seemed never ending. The irony of the nighttime desert suddenly set into my body; that ghastly wind moving right through me and chilling my bones to that of splintering ice. The need to move started me forward though, and I felt a sharp ache all over, my body trying to fight against change. Was I lost? My heart began pounding fast in my chest, the blood pumping through my veins felt like an icy river. So slow, but I trudged onwards, hope holding onto a possible lie. It was when my pace held steady that a sudden wariness alerted me to foreign noises. Soft hissing sailed through the air waves, accompanied by a more mechanic static… What was that? It slid right into my mind and took me in a hold. I halted, my feet sinking into the sand. An uneasy paranoia gripped my chest as the noises mirrored me, pausing just as I did. Sickness rose like bile in my throat, I could feel eyes upon me… somewhere. I began to move again, desperate to leave this place now. Stubbornly, I stared towards the endlessness of the chilly desert, refusing to look back. I dared not to look back. A strong gale came, making my hair flail out behind me and the tiniest of noises began to spiral around my head with unseen stealth. The static came back, but mingled within it was a wicked giggling. I looked around uneasily, head turning to look and search all around me. Where was it coming from? All I saw was those silent, unmoving rocky hills…The giggling continued to move all around me, fading in and out of hearing range, corrupting me to an edginess that brought on an unwanted burst of adrenalin. Burning tears began to well up in my eyes,…

“Once upon a time…” that is how many childhood stories begin. However, Voice is a different type of story. It does not tell of pretty princesses or fairy godmothers, but instead of a girl who can sing rhythms and songs never heard before. Stories that are told to my generation are ones that have been around for a long time about superheroes being the good guy and always being there for crime. Voice is no different. Nevertheless, some skeptics wonder if Voice is worthy of acclaim it receives. Voice contains important themes that still apply in today’s society, has significant historical information, and portrays characteristics of heroes that remind us that even the best heroes are still mortal. Once upon a time there’s a hero named mossy. She had a voice so strong it made everybody stop. But ever since mossy was born she wasn’t normal. She always wanted to be alone and had a dog named frog. Her parents always found a way to down her because she spends no time with them or her baby sister. The only time mossy and her parents get alone was through them teaching her general skills needed for adult hood. Throughout life mossy had to put with people trying to be her friend because she had a wonderful voice so people would try and use her. She know deep down inside she going to make it big but she has to find somewhere deep down inside to bring her voice out. She never gets calls like normal super heroes. She manly gets quest or challenges. Mossy and her dog frog always sing together they would go out in the shed behind the house and sing their hearts out. I just sat on a horse. Unexpectedly, the horse started to run very fast, I was terrified so I began to scream, shout loudly and called for help. But, nobody came to help, and surprisingly no less than a minute I started to like it, as the horse ran longer and faster, I noticed nobody and nothing around but the sound of the wind. I closed my eyes, heard pleasant blowing of the wind, at the same time felt great happiness which I have never felt before. Suddenly, I opened my eyes and there were no horse, no wind and no green grasses around me, though that enjoyment was left and I was still elated for no reason. So I got up, opened the window, as the window was opened fresh air broke into my room. I took another stream of fresh air into my lungs and started observing the view. Although I used to see the dawn every day, I had never noticed its beauty. Everything looked flawless to me that very morning. The reddish light appeared in the barely blue sky. As soon as the reddish rays extended to more space, the blue color of the sky became more accurate. Favorable sounds of the nature were heard from everywhere. Along with these sounds I witnessed silence and peace. This peace stretched to my inner world and freed it from all the worries and troubles for tomorrow. There were just me and my heart, and I was ready to hear it easily and clearly.…
