Is Tiger Woods Still a Good Role Model?

There has been some speculating on the news and with people as to whether Tiger Woods is still a good role model or not. Tiger does many things for people. Woods helps kid’s everyday with the Children’s Foundation. Woods has changed the sports world forever. Tiger is a success in many ways. There is no reason why anybody wouldn’t want to be in Tiger’s shoes. Tiger needs a second chance. Tiger Woods is a perfect role model. Ever since the beginning of his career, Tiger Woods has been an impact on the world. Every kid has looked up to Tiger one way or another. When a person thinks of golf, Tiger pops up in their mind. Ever since Tiger started, fans have looked at Tiger as the best. The discipline, courage, and heart that Tiger shows are the best. Every child should use these values. These days there are not many positive role models like this to go around. Children need these kinds of people like Tiger. People can even go on “Role Models” on the web and find Tiger at the top of the list. Tiger Woods has definitely impacted not only children’s role models, but even the golfing world. Tiger is thankful for everything also. Tiger says, “I owe a debt of gratitude to a lot of people who helped me attain my dreams, and I’m determined to help others. I take my responsibility as a role model very seriously. By positively influencing others, I believe I can make a difference. The smile on the faces of kids grateful to get a few minutes of instruction warms my heart. I am grateful to golf for giving me that feeling. In the big picture what truly matters is the lives we touch “(Woods 302). Tiger Woods is very playful around young golfers, differently then when playing in a tournament. From the beginning, Tiger’s story has been very touching and heartwarming. Tiger is obligated to kids. Tiger feels that it is his mission to be a positive role model. This side of him shows.     Hole eight was my destination; that’s where I was to meet my team. After introductions, the horn blared and the tournament began. After three tremendous shots down the fairway, the last boy in our group, Thomas, proceeded towards the tee box. That’s when I noticed something was wrong with the way he walked. What is wrong with him? How is he going to tee off if he can’t even walk right? This was going to take forever! He finally swung and the ball flew about fifty yards in front of him. I thought to myself, “My grandma could shoot farther than that and she’s never even played golf.” This was just the start of how our day went. At every hole, the two boys and I came in close to par; while, Thomas always scored ten to fifteen strokes over par. I noticed, though, his unbridled excitement and smile never faded. Every time his ball hit the hole, his enthusiasm was uncontainable. There were high fives for everyone! Somewhere along the course, I knew that my mindset had changed.     Before he turned three years old he was already appearing on television and impressing everybody from the host of the show and all the way to his Dad with his golf swing. Tiger Woods came on the Mike Douglas show along with his Dad to show off his talent for the game of golf. Tiger’s father, Earl Woods had always been a lifelong golf advocate. Most people feel like Earl Woods was a bigger fan of golf then his son and Tiger merely started to play the sport due to his father’s passion for the game and he wanted to make his dad proud so he took up the sport practically out of the womb. Tiger came onto the scene at such a young age and stayed in the spotlight because of his uncanny ability to play golf at such a ridiculously young age. After his putting competition against comedian Bob Hope, after turning three Tiger went on to shoot a 48 over a nine hole span on a local course. Now for people who are not a fan of golf, the average professional golfer would shoot around a 35 through a nine hole span. Then you have your average golfer who would happily take Tiger’s score anytime they go out to play nine holes. So for him to be doing something of this nature at that age is more then remarkable. Listing his golfing accomplishments prior to attending college would take quite some time but the amazing thing is that it would not compare to the list he has piled up since turning pro and joining the PGA tour.…
