Brain drain is a serious problem that Malaysia had been facing for decades ago especially in Chinese community. Various methods and efforts have been done by the government but still cannot completely cure it. Based on the passage, it has stated three methods to solve the problem.
The first method is solving the monetary imbalances. In order to provide high income employment to the local talents, from low value-added products and services Malaysia needs to shift to high value-added products and services. Only few industries will be selected and developed into global giant earning huge profit. Besides that, high skills jobs and agribusiness opportunity will be created for local talents if agriculture sector in Malaysia is providing high skills jobs. Scientists, management and global marketing expertise and entrepreneurs are highly needed for the agricultural sector in the Entry Points Projects (EPP) of ETP. On the other hand, tertiary level of our education system should be clear on two aspects. First, the government should match the economic needs with relevant courses or subjects. This is to prevent the fresh-graduate to be either over-qualified or under-qualified. Second, the government should plan and estimate the number of talents needed to produce for each sector and sub-sector of the economy, included modern agricultural sector. This will help to overcome the problem of over-supply or under-supply of talents. Government should also adopt policy for strong exchange rate that not only continues to compete with price but compete with quality and brand distinctiveness.
The second solution is solving the inferior perception such as the Chinese saying of the moon overseas is brighter. The local talents always have a thinking of working in a well-established multinational company in a developed country is a pride. Thus, government should introduce some policies to attract world top multinational companies to Malaysia. Foreign direct investment (FDI) for these

This book report is written for Humanities III, and the instructor Mr. Stiles. It is on The Good Earth, written by Pearl S. Buck. It contains 368 pages, and was published by The John Day Company. This book is historical fiction, and it has won the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1932. As it was the best-selling novel in the United States in both 1931 and 1932, it was an important factor in Buck's winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. It is the first book in a trilogy that includes Sons and A House Divided. In the view of increased competition resulting from globalization of economics, the Malaysia government has placed much emphasis on the importance of the wage determinant. Wages is define as ‘remuneration or earnings which are payable in virtue of a written or unwritten contract of employment by employer to an employed person’ (International Labour Organization). The government recognized that wage levels must increase in order to improve the standard of living and reduce poverty. However, increase in wages without appropriate policies could put pressures as well as erode the country’s international competitiveness and its attractiveness as a profitable Centre for foreign investment. One of the reasons of the decline in FDI in Malaysia is that the country has been losing its competitiveness due to pressure on wages. Malaysia is no longer a center for cheap labor and low cost production when compared to countries like China, India or Vietnam (Yusof, 2006).…

Malaysian companies are looking abroad to take advantage of the globalization following the rising labour costs and a limited domestic market – Malaysia only has 22 million people compared to countries like India and China which each has more than 1 billion people. There is also another factor to be considered. Liberalisation also forces open markets, giving more opportunities and competition around the globe in the spirit of globalization. Increasingly more foreign companies are coming to Malaysia hence the competition is also becoming stiffer in the domestic market.…

One of the challenges for poverty reduction in Malaysia is migrant worker’s issue. The current development policies of Malaysia are influenced by globalisation and liberalization which leads to the implications on activities related to poverty. The decrease in employment opportunities affects the urban poor and migrant workers. First and foremost, highly skilled workers are crucial towards developing Malaysia. The government has engaged the highly skilled educated expatriates in the manufacturing, technology, education and other fields. By doing so, the foreign workers will be transferring their skills and knowledge to the Malaysians. For example, the Japanese transfer their manufacturing technology in automotive industries. As a result, we are now producing our own cars as we have the knowledge and expertise to do so. Economically, Malaysia also managed to monetarily save as Malaysians are trained locally instead of being sent overseas.…
