Self-esteem differs from self-concept in the way that as you proceed in life, your talents, skills, appearance, etc.., will either progress or regress which in turn affects your self-esteem. Self-esteem changes as you change, unlike self-concept which typically stays the same.
An example of interference in context would be the time I was attending my friend’s funeral and as expected everyone was sad. I was sad as well but I was also very excited. I just found out I was having a baby. I wanted so badly to announce my news however, I felt as though during a funeral would not be appropriate.
Interference in the receiver would be like the time I had asked to use my dad’s car and he agreed to let me have it for the night. He then went on to tell me that he had a dr. appointment at 9:00 A.M. and that I needed to be home by 7:30 to give him enough time to make there. I was so excited and preoccupied by my plans for the night that the only thing I had heard was the part about 9 A.M. and therefore my dad was obviously late.
One time I had picked my son up after school and he asked if his childhood buddy could comer for a few hours. I said it was ok and that I would text his mother and let her know. Well I have my keyboard on my cell set to do predictive text so when I sent the text saying, “I have your son” She got a message saying, “I hate your son”. Next thing you know I was getting a call from a very confused mother. This is an example of interference in the sender.
