In his Farewell Address, George Washington mentions that Americans should mind American business and not be concerned with foreign conflicts. This was a warning to all Americans because during that time America was still young, and it had many of its own problems to solve. If people were too engrossed within problems regarding other countries then they would have no time to solve problems in their own country. He also says to not form permanent alliances and treaties because if there were a conflict that arose between America and the foreign country it had an alliance with it couldn’t go back on that alliance, and if America did then that country would have an excuse to oppose America. So it would be bad for America because at that time America did not have the most powerful military.…
Festus Boateng Hour 4 Are we Rome? The “empire” of The United States Of America is prone to a disastrous fall similar to the former greatest empire of the Romans due to the fact that the US empire was built in a similar way like the Roman empire and is now starting to encounter problems ranging from Social, Political, Economics, and lastly military wise. A social way of how the Roman empire fell was due to the rise of christianity because it eroded the traditional roman beliefs, values, and also caused problems between new christian believers and those who continued to hold on to the old philosophies. Evan Andrews, the author of “8 Reasons Why Rome Fell” explained, ”Christianity displaced the polytheistic Roman…

The years following World War II were a time of economic boon and prosperity for most Americans. At the same time, the Iron Curtain was firmly in place, the cold war was heating up, and the fear that communism would take over the world like a zombie apocalypse was almost palpable. In international politics during the post-war years the United States sought to establish itself as the leader of the free world. We no longer took the isolationism position that had been established as far back as George Washington and generally maintained until December 7, 1941.We began to consider ourselves the “world’s policemen”.…

After Dwight D. Eisenhower left office, he warned about the growing influence of the military-industrial complex, in American government and life. The military-industrial complex was first coined by Eisenhower, during his farewell address in 1961. This complex defines the combined effort of big business and the military to press for an ever-increasing share of national resources for the development of new weapons. Many politicians during this time believed that the military-industrial complex promoted policies that were not in the best interest for America, and that the growth of the military-industrial complex could perhaps undermine American democracy. The Cold War had created a warfare state.…
With very rare exceptions, in the United States the military is prohibited from performing domestic security functions. In recent years, due primarily to a perceived need to use the vast resources of the military to efficiently combat terrorism, there has been a move underway to reassess these restrictions. When examining this issue, however, it is not enough to enumerate the skills, training, and resources that the armed forces could potentially bring to the domestic security table. There are other nations that do not have similar restrictions on using the military in domestic police functions, and their experiences should be scrutinized. One such nation is India, and there are few better examples of negative effects from using the military for internal security functions than Operation Blue Star.…
Military theory spans centuries of conflict all across the world. As such, military theorists have written in a variety of military climates, varying from the absence of gun powder to the presence of nuclear weapons. However, some military theories are transcendent. Some elements of Sun Tzu and Clausewitz are eternally wise. While their similarities may become universal truths, their differences are equally worthy of study because, it is in the differences where choices are made. Sun Tzu and Clausewitz agreed that war is chaos, military action is a tool for diplomatic goals and, as such, the results of warfare are not final. Their differences lie in how they advocate for waging war. The style and preparations for war contrast. This is where…
Less than a generation after the Cold War ended, the United States is threatening to attack Iran and Pakistan because of the nuclear weapons proliferation . However, there is not any evidence to prove this claim is true . This pretext of attacking Iran and Pakistan is the strategic goal of United States is to expand their global power . (War and Empire, Page 3)The hypocrisy of condemning violations made the people angry. When in desperation Germany announced it would sink all ships attempting to enter British waters , including American ones , and then they did so. The entry of the United States immediately change the battleground. (War and Empire, Page 12) Otherwise , the American enterprise began in savage violence against the peoples Europeans encountered on this continent . Since the United States emerged from World War II as the most potent nation in history we have slaughtered millions, directly or not , the vast majority being helpless civilians . The American idea system , which justifies and explains the economic and political system, has evolved incrementally . (War and Empire, Page 5)The United States absorb what the economy produced because of the Great Depression . By the turn of the twentieth century , with industrialization utterly transforming the social landscape , the national ideology proclaimed that the American way of organizing society was the most advanced the planet had ever witnessed ,and called for the world to open its doors to American capital . At the start of both World Wars I and II , the American have created this most materially…

Before 1940, the military budget took up two percent of the GDP. After 1940, the highest the budget has sailed was 41 percent {now dropped to seven percent in recent years}. The point being that our military is always changing, evolving and learning. Incidentally, one of the US’s first learning points was Vietnam. Clueless as to there being three different groups all fighting in the same country, the military was at a loss. Vietcong troops killed an inordinate amount of US troops because they didn’t do their homework before rushing in the save the day. Nowadays, the US has the CIA {established in 1947} or the NSA {established in 1952} to collect data before going into a war or any military conflict. Due to this intelligence and the advancement…
