Murders Lies Secrets-Macbeth Essay Example
People can always find someone to point their finger at. When something bad happens someone has to be to blame. The hard part is figuring out who really is to blame and why. In Shakespeare’s Macbeth, King Duncan is brutally murdered by Macbeth. But are actions of brutality a reason to accuse Macbeth? What about the greedy persuasiveness of Lady Macbeth? Or the root of the whole idea that came from the witches? Someone has to be to blame.
The story of Macbeth is consumed by witches and their evil potions and spells. Also by temptation from a power hungry woman whose dream is to be queen and will obsess over the idea until she gets what she wants. The character Macbeth is all the while torn between what he wants to do, and what others make him believe he needs to do. Shakespeare does a great job in proving that outside influences can dramatically change a persons actions, sometimes leading to destruction.
Macbeth’s life was well in order. He was a highly respected man and liked by all. When Macbeth met a group of witches that told him he would become thane of Cawdor and eventually king he laughed with disbelief. After being announced the thane of Cawdor, Macbeth started to believe the witches prophecies, although he never had any intentions of fulfilling those prophecies himself.
Lady Macbeth on the other hand had some dreams of her own. She was so convinced that the witche’s prophesy was true, she decided to take matters into her own hands. She pushed and pushed Macbeth to murder King Duncan in order for his place as king. Macbeth was extremely reluctant in doing so, but with much name calling and belittling from Lady Macbeth, Macbeth decided to go through with his wifes plan for murder.
Immediately after the killing of King Duncan, Macbeth was upset about what he had done. Macbeths actions proved that he had felt guilty for doing such a horrible thing. Lady Macbeth seemed a lot less guilty after reinserting the daggers into Duncan’s wounds,
