I can remember how when I was young I believed death to be a phenomenon of the body; now I know it to be merely a function of the mind−and that of the minds of the ones who suffer the bereavement. The nihilists say it is the end; the fundamentalists, the beginning; when in reality it is no more than a single tenant or family moving out of a tenement or a town (42).…

Adrien Tan Ms. Judy Bennington-Dykes ENC1102 31Jan2014 Rhetorical Analysis of a Near Death Experience NDE (Near Death Experience) can be described as a person experiencing distinct consciousness that transpires right before imminent death. The unique story of near death experiencer, Anita Moorjani, is one that is truly fascinating and is at the forefront of one of the most informative and legendary cases to date. Anita was diagnosed with stage IVB Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was on death’s new arrival list. Her organs had begun to shut down, her lungs were filled with fluid, and she had tumors all over her body. After fiercely battling with cancer for a few years, she had finally relinquished her control over her life because she knew that there…
In the story, Everyman is the central character who represents mankind and everything that mankind experiences in life until the Day of Judgment. The story is shown as life lessons for others in the path they have chosen in their lives. Everyman meets different aspects of his life which are themes for humans. He first meets Death sent by god to deliver a message that his life is coming to an end. In response, Everyman tries to bribe Death with material possessions (Goods). Death has no value of these possessions, can’t be bribed, doesn’t wait for anyone, and his decision is final. No man can cheat death and ultimately avoid it, it is inevitable. Death tells Everyman to find someone to accompany him on his journey if he can and that is where the journey begins.…
A near death experience, also referred as NDE, is a psychological event that may occur when a person is close to death, or in a situation of suffering serious physical or emotional problems. Most NDE’s are peaceful and loving, but some are disturbing. All NDE’s are unique in a way, but as a group they share common features. During a NDE, individuals may feel intense emotions, commonly peace, well-being, and loved. Others are marked by fear, horror, and loss. Another common feature is a rapid movement through darkness, towards the light, towards the ‘end of the tunnel’. In some cases, there may be a perception of one’s body from above, sometimes watching medical resuscitation, or moving to other places. There are many other possibilities that may happen during NDE’s, such as hallucination of seeing loved ones, a sense of being somewhere else in an unearthly place.…

Of all human stages of development and transition, none of them has profound effect and overwhelming disturbance as death. The surviving members of the deceased’s family and other close loved ones are always at a loss and the grieving that ensues thereafter is of untold emotional torment (Sherman et al., 2003). On the spiritual perspective, death is mourned with the recluse and thought of continuance of life after death. Death is increasingly being viewed as a rite of passage and is not a finality as previously perceived in the preceding ages of our current generations. However, this perspective is speculative in nature for there is no living human being that has marched on with the personal study of the afterlife and come back to life in human…

The dying process is a subject that many people do not like to discuss. To them it is a scary process and a lot of “what if” questions. Death affects everyone emotionally, physically. spiritually, and mentally. Death can occur in infants, children, teens, and adults and most people think that when older adults die that it’s okay but if some is young people say it was before their time. God knows when it is our time, even when we do not understand at that time. Looking at death, there are sometime situations that you can get help to prepare yourself and your family when a death occurs. There are three types of education that can help, which are crisis intervention education, routine death education, and death education for members of the helping profession (Feldman,…
The common definition of death is a moment in which a person is either dead or alive (time.com). The professional definition of death is when the heart stops beating, the lungs stop breathing, and the brain stops all function (time.com). There are many different names of out of body experiences such as AWARE, OOBE/OBE, SCA, and NDE, but they all are the same thing or closely relate to each other. NDE is when something happens while the body is almost or is dead. SCA is the cause of almost all out of body experiences. During Sudden Cardiac Arrest the brain stops getting blood therefore after about ten seconds the brain stops functioning. Without brain activity the body can no longer remain conscience. Most researchers question the fact that if he patient was brain-dead no just dead (James 4). AWARE occurs when a patient with no brain activity remains…
In conclusion, I feel that Worden's theory is most relatable to my experience of death. All tasks are something which I have endured, only once. It is important to consider that some people may not agree with this theory and see its weaknesses, but for me it has all strong points. As a future Social Care practitioner this theory could prove very useful and has given me a better understanding of loss and bereavement for a person, as yet, thankfully, I am inexperienced with death.…
