Physical Activity Phiosophy Outline
PHED 001: Physical Activity Philosophy Date: 4 October 2012
I. Introduction Thesis statement: Physical activity is important to ones development and should include proper training on nutrition and exercise from an early age to help reduce the risks of chronic illnesses later on in life.
II. Topic sentence 1: My focus in physical education will be on the importance of nutrition. A. Teaching kids at a young age about nutrition helps them to learn to maintain a healthy lifestyle B. Learning about nutrition and eating right will help reduce the risk of chronic illnesses later on in life.
III. Topic sentence 2: In order to teach about maintaining a healthy lifestyle my focus would also be on understanding and keeping an exercise regimen. A. If children are taught early on, they will be able to adapt and use exercise in their daily lives. B. Maintaining an exercise regimen will help us all to live longer
V. Conclusion: Developing an understanding of physical activity creates the ground work for maintaining a healthy lifestyle with nutrition and exercise

The article Healthy People 2020s is about improving health through strengthening policy and practice, by increasing public awareness and understanding the determinants of health, disease and disability. Healthy People also provides measurable objectives and goals used at the national, state and local levels (Healthy People 2020). Physical activity is essential to reducing the risks of chronic diseases. Health and physical activity are often closely related. Health is defined as the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit; especially: freedom from physical disease or pain and a condition optimal well-being (Merriam-Webster). While physical activity is defined as any body movement that works your muscles and requires more energy than resting.     Physical and environmental health is vital for healthy living. Routine physical exercise and healthy eating is essential to having good health. Exercise increases the metabolism, rids the body of harmful toxins, and is important to keep the human body in good shape.
