SuPhe Defined: Any activity or activities that defies (pushes against) or denies (ignores) normal behavior and/or interrupts the natural order.
Today’s culture is often preoccupied with SuPhe. We can see this by the constant cultural cues designed to make us “yearn for transcendence.” Note some of the culture proof texts that exist in contemporary society: Fascination with cartoon characters with supernatural powers, the onslaught of degrees in the paranormal, the study of Angelology, preoccupation with UFOs (museums and clubs), Movie and TV shows based on SuPhe (including Sci Fi, and End of the World renderings, Zombie Apocalypse Myths, Blockbuster movies that use time warping as a prime medium etc), radio programs such as Coast to Coast and the Jesus Christ show, cults that follow Apparitions of the Virgin Mary or the crucifix in a Grilled Cheese sandwich, Metaphysical studies, bookstores and related paraphernalia have tripled in the past 3 decades, Reincarnation Therapy, Books devoted to vampires, faeries, witches and spell casting (including Harry Potter and others of the SuPhe Sequel nature (Twilight etc.), unexplainable phenomena (Abominable snowman or Big Foot), Cult activities based on Druid traditions or other pagan religions (Wicca etc.), Necromancy (fascination with the dead, having sex with the dead etc.) or contacting the dead/channeling (divination through mediums such as Crossing Over or Sylvia Brown or Chip Coffey), Time Travel methodologies, fascination with Virtual Reality (including rides at amusement parks and even our techno-obsessive culture complete with Ipad, IPhone, Skype, FaceTime, HeyTell, Instagram and other forms of “present slicing” (being in two places at once), rise in Martial Arts and the mental prowess of overcoming the natural that accompanies it, and the constant flow
