How teen parenting affects your future? Many parents have a difficult time to talk to their teen about sex and its consequences to life. Sometimes parents may be in denial on their teens actions and what is going on in his or her life, others choose not to bring it up because it makes them feel uncomfortable. What happens to your teen if you don’t have that talk? What if your teen is pregnant or gets someone pregnant? Teen parenting affects your future emotionally, socially, and financially. I myself was a teen parent, and I know first-hand what it is like to have a child and the emotions that I went through. Stress is an emotional issue that you need to deal with if you are a teen parent. I was constantly waking up every three to four hours to feed my daughter, and I still needed to wake up in time to go to college. Being a teen parent forces you to grow up faster than ever, even if you yourself aren’t ready for parenthood. When you’re a teen parent, you don’t have as much free time as you used to. Of course some family members will be more than willing to babysit for you, but you still have an obligation to fulfill. I couldn’t go out as much as I used to, and if I did I would bring my daughter with me to have lunch with a friend. I would allow myself to hang out with friends twice a month without my daughter. Many play dates were scheduled for my daughter and friends children to play together. I didn’t feel like my life was over socially, I just needed to adjust my social lifestyle; hanging with other teen mothers helped me to feel connected to motherhood and my teen life. Because of my young age, I wasn’t able to get a high paying job that I would like. I found a minimum waged job at the coffee bean and I needed to work around my school and daughters schedule to prioritize my life. I didn’t get to make a whole lot of money to raise my child, and I needed to go on the welfare system to support my daughter. Food, clothing and child care were my biggest
