periods last longer then others. Depression in teens is a big cause in suicide; depression is caused from stress or hormonal change. Depression caused in teens is caused from losing family or friends, lack in extracurricular activities, low self-esteem for example caused by bullying about their clothes, religion, intelligence, social class, also ethnicity. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people ages 13 to 24. In recent years, suicide has increased at an alarming rate in adolescents. One in five teenagers in the United States considers suicide, in 2003, 8 percent of adolescents attempted suicide. It can affect teens from all races, both genders, and socioeconomic groups. According to a 2004 report distributed by the National Institute of Mental Health identified that psychological, environmental, and biological are the possible causes for suicidal distress. The risk for suicide frequently occurs in combination with external circumstances, lack of coping skills, substance abuse, and depression the most common psychiatric disorder in people who die in suicide. Adolescent suicide can be prevented by recognizing the possible symptoms and warning signs. Suicide prevention programs, crisis center hotlines, screening programs, seek to identify at risk adolescents and provide them with the proper treatment and reduce suicidal ideation.…
Teens who unfortunately killed themselves show that they had problems, like different disorders or psychiatric problems (Otsuki, Peterson, Kim). When someone is depressed, they feel like their only option is suicide to end the pain. “Girls cry out for help, while boys are taught to be tough and never to “act like a girl” (Portner 5). Both genders need to be treated equality, if a guy wants to cry and pour their heart out why should people stop them. The reason why teens go on with committing suicide might never be known but we know some reasons. Life can be hard and very unfair but teens need to realize that they have a whole world in front of them. Life is more than that blend moment they are having. There are so much suicide awareness but sometimes people forget that it is a real thing and people are fighting wars with their mind. Teens also might start cutting themselves which can lead to suicide. One wrong vain or move can end their…
I believe the main cause of suicide is the effects of society. We all have our own personal problems and stressful life events that we go through. A stressful life event may range from a break up between a boyfriend and girlfriend/ divorce of husband and wife, a death or loss of a significant loved one, or society not excepting people sexual orientation (gay, lesbians, transgender). All of these factors can take a toll on a person’s emotions. Whatever the problem may be, we must ask ourselves: “if suicide is a choice for us, would it be worth ending my life because of this problem?” People who commit suicide probably figure that whatever the stressful life event they may be experiencing is not worth living through. The people who commit suicide failed to realize that suicide is a permanent solution to what could be a temporary…
Smoking is a major issue because it's the main source of death on the planet higher than infectious disease, greater then obesity, greater than guns (Share Care). Each year tobacco is killing more than 6 million people around the world (World Health Organization). Three of the primary reasons youngsters smoke to look experienced, to resemble their companions, and to analyze (From the First to the Last Ash: The History, Economics and Hazards of Tobacco). Smokers are not killing themselves by doing it, but they are killing other people by increasing their risk of lung cancer and heart disease if people are exposed to other people smoking for long periods of time. For example, lung cancer increased by about 20-30% in human being's who regularly…
I went to the local high school in my town and I took traditional art classes. I realized how much I loved art and how it was helping me cope inside my house. I decided to enter the two-year Commercial Art Program with the county’s vocational technical high school share time program. I knew then I wanted to be an artist and my father firmly let me know college was never going to happen for me. I envied the American dream consisting a loving father, mother, sibling and pet. I had all of that, but it was more of an American nightmare.…
A teen may receive stress and pressure about the opposite sex from his or her friends. Such things as getting a boyfriend or girlfriend or whether or not they have had sex and are a virgin or not are types of stresses and pressures that a teen can and most likely will receive from other teens. Also another major stressor for teens is whether or not they are gay or not. Most teens who are gay don 't want to believe that they are. They will then deny the fact and this will force stress and pressure on them to act as if they are not gay and get a boyfriend or girlfriend. Teens will also commit suicide for the fact that they are gay and don 't want to be gay because they think it is wrong or that their friends and family will not accept them for who they really are. If a teen is a loner and don 't have many friends can lead to teens suicide. Most teens feel unwanted when no one will talk to them in school. They might begin to think that they are unwanted everywhere and they have to be reassured that they are wanted. That just because they don 't fit in at school doesn 't mean that they are…

It's been a while since my last post. I have realized just how much I relied on getting my thoughts and feelings out on here when I was sick last year. Now that I've been doing so well, I haven't had too many thoughts poisoning my brain. I have thrived this summer. I took on an internship with the Director of Mental Health which has been amazing. My supervisor has given me many jobs and even made me the event organizer for a Suicide Prevention event. I've gathered speakers, booked two venues, and ordered promotional items. It has been a lot of fun. It has shown me that I will be able to not only function but thrive in the real world once I get out of school. A year ago, these thoughts would have put me into a panic attack, but now I am filled with such excitement!…
