This claim can be interpreted in different ways, so it needs to be defined by what I personally believe it means in order to come to a conclusion. By the term ‘new ways of thinking’ I understand having the same information as before but finding a new way of seeing or using it. With the term ‘discover new data/facts’ I understand the search for information that nobody has ever found out about or has had proof of. By the term ‘new’ I find that it doesn’t mean that it has never been done before, but has never been applied in a specific field/ category before. You could also question to whom it is new, to an individual or the world. I will however focus on the world as a whole. Examples for the definitions will be given throughout my evaluation, which considers this claim in natural science, applied science and art.
A knowledge issue that this question raises up is to what extent can new ways of thinking bring us new knowledge and therefore also new data/facts?
New way of thinking created new and advanced technology as we find it today, and still there is much more to technology that we haven’t discovered yet. However due to new ways of thinking this eventually will happen in a form of a cycle, as we have seen it before. If we take a set of data or facts and think of them in a different way than we have done before, we can gain new knowledge about them which can lead us again to further development, as the examples throughout this essay show. However there is much more to it than we can imagine. In computing technology for example, due to new ways of thinking it seems that there always is further development. Many people think that from now on there is no way it can possibly develop further, ‘It would appear that we have reached the limits of what is possible to achieve with computer technology,
