"The Demon Lover” is a confusing short story because it can be interpreted in different ways. Some people might consider it a ghost story. Others might think it is a psychological thriller‚ which makes sense due to the fact that Mrs. Drover presents signals of having a mental problem. However‚ I decided to go with the ghost story for two reasons: it makes it more fun and I feel like there’s more evidence I could use to support that statement‚ even though I do agree she has some kind of mental problem

The Woman In Black (TV 1989) Based on the novel by Susan Hill Directed by Herbert Wise Haunted Secrets by Divya Jain November 29th‚ 2011 Rating: 4.5/5 Running Time: 100 minutes We are always told not to judge a book by its cover. In the same way‚ even though The Woman In Black is an old movie‚ its director and cast have definitely brought justice to ghost stories. It builds up spookiness throughout the whole movie‚ which enhances the plot and the audiences’ reaction to the scares

Isolation is also there when Keckwick leaves Arthur alone in Eel Marsh House. He says that he feels “alone‚ outside that gaunt‚ empty house”. This tells us that Arthur is alone in the house‚ without protection and he ‘predicts’ that he will see the Woman in Black soon. Another time where we feel isolation is when Arthur is alone at the house and he is so scared that he starts to pray. I think that he prays because he is looking for protection and somebody to talk in God. Mrs Drablow also creates a

The Ideal Woman’s Body The 21st century’s North American society is dominated by the obsessive desire of women to look like society’s‚ media-influenced‚ portrayal of the “ideal body.” This is a result of the way society has objectified women as just “sexual bodies;” largely for the gratification and enjoyment of men. Not only is the media creating these ideal bodies for women to look up to and idolize‚ but‚ they are also providing ways in which to obtain these bodies such as weight-loss programs

"The Author to Her Book" A writer has to have a certain amount of passion about their work. In the case of Anne Bradstreet in her poem "The Author to Her Book‚" compares a writer and their work to a mother and her child. As you read the poem you can see how she compares the growth of her work to the growth of a child. The first two lines of the poem show a motherly comparison by the words offspring and birth. The first line‚ however‚ has a negative allusion as well‚ from the words ill-formed
