The song choice for this band seems very appropriate for the level of players in the ensemble. I also enjoyed the Christmas medley that they played with the concert being close to Christmas. The band had very good balance. They had a good foundation with the low brass and woodwinds. The upper woodwinds were not shrill sounding and blend very nicely into the foundation the lower instruments set for them. The rhythms were together and precise. They were able to switch between staccato and legato seamlessly

I. Haydn Haydn has a special preference for writing music in a bundle of six. Each of the six pieces has its individuality while sharing many common features at the same time. Haydn’s solo keyboard sonatas show striking diversity in type and style. They often could be categorized by their style periods and each of them reflects a corresponding social background. Mozart’s clarinet concerto is simply one of a kind partly since Mozart only wrote one concerto for the clarinet. Unfortunately for clarinet players Mozart discovered clarinet late in life and didn’t compose the clarinet concerto until right before his death(Davies). Mozart was a genius‚ having spent much of his childhood composing and performing for royalty and incredibly high-ranking people (Kennedy 494-495). Growing up in this manner he didn’t have a traditional childhood and thus his personality

Mozart?s Piano Sonata No. 2 (K.280) Mvt. I is a rarity in that it follows almost every rule of sonata-allegro form to a ?T.? I consider this a most striking find‚ since there really wasn?t anything called sonata-allegro form in the classical era. It just happened to be that music was very set in ratio now that we look back on it.
