Adjust the coarse focus down until specimen appears. Use the fine focus knob for clarity of the image‚ xy controls to get the area of interest into view‚ and the iris to control the brightness of the image. Once image is focused the objective lens may be changed and you can then begin to view the specimen within a higher power of magnification
