Alice Walker was born on February 4‚ 1944‚ and she is the youngest of eight siblings. Walker grew up poorly attending segregated schools. Since the age of eight‚ she has been partially blind‚ and to cope with that she wrote. She started out writing poetry‚ and later evolved to short stories and novels. Walker writes based off her life experience‚ African American women‚ her mother’s teachings‚ and family traditions.
