“Whack” Jackie Robinson with another home run bringing the Dodgers to an 4-1 lead
over the St.Louis Cardinals. Jackie Robinson an American baseball legend who influence a civil
rights movement. Which had positives effects on the country while leaving a great legacy.
Jackie Robinson was the first African American to break the color barrier in major league
baseball through the Brooklyn Dodger organization.
In the beginning of the book “I Never Had It Made” it explained Jackie’s childhood and
also a story of a little girl throwing a rock at Jackie and using demeaning language. Jackie later

He met the love of his life Rae.
Jackie and Rae attended UCLA and kept their relationship throughout college. After college a
football team in Hawaii wanted him to play so he played football on a pro team. World War 2
had just started 3 days after Jackie left Hawaii the bombing of Pearl Harbor took place and a
day later the U.S declared war on Japan. Jackie was later drafted into the war but with a
football injury he could do very little to help his country in battle. Jackie Robinson was a
General in Kentucky that trained men for battle in Europe. While this all happened Rae and
Jackie were going through some issues and Rae kinda said bye bye Jackie. Jackie after he was
done with his work Jackie met with Rae and they made up latter and were back together. A few
months later Jackie started to play in an all black league playing for the Kansas City Monarchs.
Through the course of the season Jackie was met by one of Branch Rickey’s assistant to meet
with him in Broklyn about business.
Branch Rickey said he wanted Jackie apart of the Dodger organization and break the
color barrier. Jackie and Rae were married after the incredible news and having a son
