INTRODUCTION

Cannery Multi-Purpose Cooperative is one of the interested to upgrade its network system. CAMPCO office sited at Purok Maabtik, Esposado Village, Barangay Cannery, Polomolok, South Cotabato. This office using a system designed a cooperative network structure. The current network supports email, basic Internet access for the usage of their manpower business, which does the main business exist in their cooperative. Users have complained about occasional downtime and slow response times when accessing the network, especially at peak access times. At a minimum, CAMPCO wishes to correct these issues through an upgrade to their system, but management is also looking to be able to improve productivity and increase security of the confidential data sent over their network.
The proposed solution that follows involves significant studies for the changes to CAMPCO office network systems. The current hardware used throughout the network was purchased over a long period of time and uses many different technologies. The new basic physical network architecture will require several upgrades in hardware that address these incompatibilities and older technologies. The result will be higher speeds, more reliability, and easier maintenance of network components. The upgraded hardware will use for date-to date transactions, compatible technologies that will greatly facilitate troubleshooting and maintenance as well as resolve the slow access times that are currently being reported.
In addition to updating the hardware, the proposed solution outlines some changes in the network configuration. These changes, if implemented, will provide greater reliability and security for all users of the CAMPCO network. Along with the new hardware, the new network configuration will open the door for CAMPCO to explore new possibilities in using the network to increase overall productivity and, in the end, better serve the needs of the employees.

The review of the current network used at Kudler Fine Foods was able to determine that the network topology that is being used is the bus topology. The bus network is set-up in such a way that all the network components are connected via CAT5 to the bus or communication line. This configuration is true at sites in the corporation for their workstations, servers, and standalone UPS. A 56k modem is the device that is used by all of the networks communicating to the internet. Although the bus network is very reasonable when it comes to cost, the downfall is that when the backbone goes down, the entire network can encounter an outage that is very difficult to troubleshoot. Another disadvantage this network is the occurrence of signal collision. This happens when two systems are sending signals at the same time to one another, collides with each other and causes to drop both signals. To solve this problem, CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection) technology will be set-up in the network, which will put the network into a listen mode before sending, to prevent collisions from taking place.…

To solve the shared bandwidth problem with the company network new equipment is necessary. First off the 10mbps Ethernet hub should be replaced with a 100mbps, due to its better performance. An extended star topology with a logical switch topology will be the best setup for the situation. As for the five new computers a wireless approach will be best. For this method each new addition will need to be equipped with a wireless NIC (network interface card). Although the freedom to roam the facility and always be connected to the LAN can be a great advantage for network users, the amount of support needed to manage the system and users is much higher than that required by a wired network. Due to the broadcasting nature of a wireless system, security is an important concern and provisions should be made for guest / unauthorized users to use the system in a limited and controlled way. Additional support by the IT Team is often required to configure a user to use the wireless network, to ensure the wide variety of hardware will work with the College’s wireless system, and to provide Help Desk support for wireless…
