I adhered to this principle of finding out what the child could do in the case study. I would have a story or a poem and have the child read it with me. As I read, I can ask the child to join in. During reading, I will pay attention to see how well the child can read. If the child having lots of trouble, then I would know that the level of the story/poem is too advance for them. This helps me to know that the child isn’t ready to read a certain level of text and can switch out to an easier level. I can also switch out a more advance level of text if the child show mastery.

- Molly’s mom doesn’t have money for Molly to learn English. Even in school, because of the situation, Molly couldn’t attend classes to learn.
