News Article
In this article “Kerry Top Secretary of State Pick” the associated press state that Ambassador Susan Rice withdrew from being secretary of state to avoid the confirmation fight with republicans. The Democratic senate John Kerry then automatically became the head of Obama’s short list of candidates. This is bringing a lot of excitement in Washington. Many Democrats blamed politics for Rice’s leaving. Senate leader Harry Reid stated “Their behavior was a disgrace to the senate’s tradition of bipartisan cooperation on national security issues and beneath the stature of senators with otherwise distinguished records on national security.”. In regarding to helping the Democrats insinuate the Republicans who failed to get any traction in using the deadly September attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, to derail Obama’s re-election bid instead took her down. Obama was on Rice’s side. She had written the president a letter. And in response the president stated “While I deeply regret the unfair misleading attacks on Susan Rice in recent weeks, her decision demonstrates the strength of her character” But , Kerry has been a Senate for nearly three decades and he is the current Senate Foreign Relations committee chairman. He was Obama’s envoy to hot spots such as Afghanistan and Pakistan. His move to secretary will create a potential problem for Democrats by opening a Senate seat. I think that senator rice thinks she is doing the right thing but she is really putting more problems in the house. She is giving more space to the Republicans when you can see clearly we are trying to make it a democratic house. This is going to be more kayos then it was before. There are going to be more democratic and republican arguments with democratic and republican senates in the chair. We are going to hear more about this it is going to cause problems with the money and other things. I think she should have stayed and not put more
