(MLK) was a civil rights activist who contributed to the Civil Rights movement that fought for black’s right to vote and to have as much protection under the law as the white people do. Black citizens in the south were denied their right to vote by the government officials because they didn’t like the blacks based on their color. Blacks could not go to restrooms, restaurants, schools, store, etc… that the whites went to. If there were to be two separate rape cases against a black male and a white male, the black male would either be sentenced to life, lynched or killed by the white government officials because he’s black vs the white person would either get a few months or very little time. Whoever is guilty for rape can be sent to prison for up to ten years depending on the count of charges filed against that individual. The murder of Oscar Grant in 2009 in Oakland, California plays a big role in the way how the 14th amendment is abused. The officer that had shot and killed Oscar Grant for no apparent reason was sentenced to one year in prison for manslaughter, when an average person convicted for manslaughter would be sentenced up to 30 years of imprisonment especially if they were black. This former peace officer was unfairly convicted because he was white and he was a police
