1929-1939 Great Depression
The topic I have chosen to do the basis of my research on is life prior to the Infamous day. The day in which is referred to as infamous by Franklin D Roosevelt is Pearl Harbor. My Research is based on the time frame of 1929 - 1939 targeting the Great Depression. In addition, I shall breakdown the several key factors that caused the depression. With great detail the reasons and the final factor in the economic collapse within the United States will be discussed.
The Great Depression was dated from 1929-1939. It was known to be the longest economic down fall in the history of western industrialized world. The Great depression was started after the stock market crashed in October 1929 ( “The Great depression”,n.d .). This event sent wall street into panic mode and swiped out millions of investors across the country. During the year 1933 the great depression had reached it’s peak and more than 13 million Americans were unemployed and half of our nations banks had failed. ( “The Great depression”,n.d .)

Dorie grew up working on his father’s farm. He decided that he wanted to join the Navy in 1938 as a mess attendant to raise money for his family. Miller a Navy boxing champ had the job of carrying any injured men to safe quarters during the war. This included the captain of the ship. This man went down in history as a hero. After rescuing many American Soldiers, he went out on the ships deck and saw that they were still being attacked. Miller picked up 50-caliber antiaircraft machinegun and started to shoot the plans down until he ran out of ammo. Dorie Miller was known as a war hero. He impressed many Americans, received the Navy Cross, and was raised to the rank of first class.
