2.1 Effective Communication
Effective communication is important in developing positive relationships with children, young people and adults. If we give and receive information effectively, we assure mutual understanding, trust, respect, equality, honesty, and consistency. These are the foundations for a positive relationship in which both parties contribute and thrive as individuals, yet achieve common goals.
In an effective vocal communication between two people, both parties will be clear and understand the context of the information they have shared, leaving less room for errors and more chance of successfully acting on or implementing the meaning of the communication.
