“I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”- Patrick Henry, this saying is famous for Patrick Henry giving a speech to the people about wanting liberty from Britain. The U.S. received liberty from Britain, when they wrote the Declaration of Independence, which later inspired to write the constitution. Both gave us further liberty than before. The U.S. constitution gave the people of the United States liberty by giving rights to all people. The right of liberty for the citizens of the United States of America was provided by the constitution.
The fourteenth amendment in the constitution states that all people born in the United States have the same rights as every other person. No person should be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law. One of the things the U.S.
constitution gives us the freedom of speech expressed by the first amendment. The first amendment gives us the liberty to express our own opinion about something. It also gives us a sort of independence by letting us speak freely instead of following someone else opinion because anything else would of been considered illegal. For example, before the colonists immigrated to America, England and there they were required to have a certain religion set by the King. Every person was required to be either protestant or catholic depending on the King’s preference. The colonists grew tired when the king changed it so many times and they wanted to have their own religion so they moved to
America.
Another thing that gives us liberty from by the constitution are the amendments giving people the right to vote also gives the people independence to express their opinion about who should be an elected official. The candidates for the elected position can state their opinion on problems and figure out ways to solve it. The people try to pick someone close to their opinion or they can run for the position because they have the freedom to but it is not guaranteed they would be elected. If someone is elected and the official did something against the law they can be impeached or recalled.
In conclusion, the U.S. constitution provides liberty to all American citizens as long as he/she follows the law.
