2015 NANM SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION
REPERTOIRE LIST

The 2015 NANM Scholarship Competition is in Piano. Contestants must compete on the local and regional levels. Based on these contests, each region will send a contestant to compete at the national competition, to be held in 2015 at the annual national conference in Washington, D.C. The repertoire embraces the genres of European and American composers and highlights the contributions of African American composers.

Three works are required, one from each of the following three groups.

GROUP I
Contestants must choose one major work from either the Baroque or Classical musical periods. Contestants must select one movement from the work. Examples would be:
Works from the Baroque Period
J. S. Bach: The Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue; Partita No. 2 in C minor or No. 6 in E minor; English Suite No. 2 in A minor or No. 3 in G minor; the Italian Concerto
Scarlatti: a set of three Sonatinas

Works from the Classical Period
Beethoven: Sonatas Op. 2, No.2 in A Major; Op. 2, No. 3 in C Major; Op. 10, No. 3 in D major; Op. 31, No. 2 in D minor; Op. 31, No.3 in E♭ Major; Op. 53 in C Major; Op. 57 in F minor; Op. 81a in E♭ Major; Op. 106 in B♭ Major; Op. 109 in E Major; Op. 110 in A♭ Major; Op. 111 in C minor.
Mozart: Sonatas K 281 in B♭ Major; K 284 in D Major; K 309 in C Major; K310 in a minor; K 330 in C Major; K331 in A Major; K 333 in B♭ Major; Fantasy in C minor K 475; K. 576 in D Major.
GROUP II
Contestants must choose one work composed from either the Romantic, Impressionistic, or 20th Century musical periods. Contestants must select one movement from the work. Examples would be:
Works from the Romantic Period
A set of two Chopin Etudes (not including Op.10, No. 3 in E Major; Op. 10, No. 6 in E♭ minor; Op. 25, No. 5 in E minor, or; Op. 25, No. 7 in C). Suggested larger works may include Ballade Op. 23, No. 1 in G minor or Op. 52, No. 4 in F minor; Sonata No.2 in B♭ Minor (Op. 35) or No.3 in B minor (Op. 58).
