The Law of Influence - The true measure of leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. Leadership is often seen as a position which couldn’t be farther from the truth. It is not uncommon for those in assigned position to not be leaders at all. Many are placed in positions of leadership because of their abilities whether, they be intellectual, entrepreneurial, or experience. Olvera, et al (2017) remind us “Trust is one of the most frequently cited constructs in the literature on transformational leadership. Articles on transformation and collaborative leadership repeated cite trust as the foundation by which effective leadership can be established.
Law number 8 talks about intuition or as Brown calls it Emotional Intelligence (EI). He discusses how it increases individual and social effectiveness. As Vandewaa (2016) state, “EI may increase conscientiousness in performing nursing duties, and in the levels of involvement and participation in hospital affairs. The EI has also been shown to decrease health expenditure according to Mikolajczak, M., & Van Bellegem, S. (2017). EI or intuition as Maxwell discusses is key to effective leadership.

I Have come to realize the importance of Influence. To influence is realy to lead. When we truly influence others, we are truly leading whether we have a title or not. I seek to be a man of influence. In order to be an influence on others, I feel it important to maintain an upright character,. I have seen many in leadership fail because of lack of trust and the confidence of those whom they are leading. Several other laws spoke to me which I did to not include in my discussion. I see the importance of attracting the right kind of people around us, If I have good character, then I will attack those like with good character. It is also important to surround myself with individuals of influence. Relationships are important Often is not what you know, but who you know that allows you to accomplish your vision and goals.
