Explain how the government supports the development of e-business.
Introduction:
In this assignment I will be describing how the government supports the development of e-business which I will be doing in the subsequent paragraph To start with, The UK and the European Union of which the UK is a part have adopted policies designed to encourage both private and business Internet use. The UK government has had a policy to make the UK ‘the best place in which to do e-business’. The European Union has a stated aim of creating an ‘information society’ among all member states.
In January 2009, the government published the Interim Digital Britain Report. This set out an agenda for action involving both the private sector and government. Five objectives were identified and these were:
• modernising and upgrading the UK’s wired, wireless and broadcasting framework to sustain Britain’s leading position as a digital economy
• providing a favourable climate for investment and innovation in digital content, applications and services • securing a range of high-quality public service content, particularly in the news
• developing the nation’s digital skills, at all levels • securing universal access to broadband, increasing its take-up and using broadband to deliver more public services more effectively and more
The government tend to support the E business in the following areaas 1. Data Protection Act 1998 The Data Protection Act 1998) is the law that governs the processing of personal information held on living, identifiable individuals. Businesses must comply with the Act if they process personal information about people. The Act requires that a business is open about the use of information and follows certain principles for processing that information. These principles are known as the eight data protection principles. The Act also provides individuals with certain rights, including the right of subject access.
