Sample Radio Public Service Announcements

Submit these PSA scripts to the public affairs director of your local radio and television stations. Request that the station’s on-air personalities read these announcements. Or a celebrity in your community may be willing to lend their vocal talents to record these PSAs; this can be a useful way for them to contribute to your outreach efforts.

PSA scripts should be typed double-spaced and in capital letters on a separate sheet of paper. Samples of two (30-second) PSA scripts are provided below.

Most people do not enjoy work, so by the time they get in the car, they’re exhausted, grouchy, and can’t take one more ounce of Debbie-downer news. The current events covered are mostly sad stories that don’t directly affect the lives of the listener. The hosts will announce topics such as “the poor and hungry population has gone up two percent in Indonesia” (Awkwardly cuts to music). Hmm, Okay? Granted, these are issues that need attention, but this radio station has just mentioned the issue, that’s it; nothing was said on how to fix these matters. If they won’t provide any possible solutions, why bring up the problem in the first place? Contrary to the Spirit FM, the DJs from the Joy FM talk about any personal struggles that they come across in their daily lives, which they think might relate to the majority of their listeners. The hosts on 91.5 will mention a situation and make an open discussion by opening the phone lines to the listeners. Once they get a caller, the DJs will talk about the situation and how they reacted after considering the circumstances; once they finish, the caller would talk about a similar instance and how he or she handled it. Towards the end of the discussion, they compare to compose the best possible way to handle the predicament once it comes up again. Listening in on a conversation about relevant events in our lives makes a substantial…
