These problems can be reduced with the alternative 4x4 block schedule.
There are many types of alternative school scheduling such as the accelerated schedule or better known as the 4x4 block schedule. The Trump plan had a few problems and inspired the new system call the Copernican Plan, named after Copernicus, by Carroll. The Copernican Plan encouraged the amount of instructional time be increased, students having fewer classes, and a reduction of student movement around the school (Williams Jr. 16).
The 4x4 block schedule is a 180 day school year divided into two semester of 90 days. Each semester students take four classes, so that they will be taking 8 courses per year. Then, each course on average is between 80-90 minutes long. “Block scheduling was a viable choice for over 40 years, but it was not until the late 1980’s that block scheduling became more widespread in secondary schools through the United States” (Williams Jr. 16). This accelerated scheduling is beneficial to students and teachers in various
