5 Ml Aniline Lab Report
/Users/zenith/Desktop/Phenylazo_B_Naphthol_frm_Aniline 2.doc1. Dissolve 5 ml aniline in 16ml conc. HCl and 16ml of distilled water contained in a beaker or a conical flask.
2. Cool this solution in an ice bath at temperature between 5 to 0 °C.
3. Add to it a solution of 4gm NaNO2 in 20ml of Distilled water drop by drop, all time stirring the solution. (The temperature of the reaction mixture should be maintained below 5 °C)
4. In another beaker, dissolve 8gm of B-Naphthol in 50ml of 10% warm NaOH solution, cool this solution below 5 °C in an ice bath.
5. Add diazonium solution from the Step – 3 to the B-Naphthol solution in NaOH drop by drop with vigorous stirring. Maintain the temperature below 10 degree centigrade.
