5th Grade Model Essay Pro Cell Phones
Cell Phones are an excellent technological advancement that supports student academic success. Though students may use cell phones for social purposes, they are vital to our society and should be allowed in school.

Cell phones support education in many ways. Based on article one, Internet access is readily available to provide opportunities to use educational apps that improve classroom instruction and practice skills. Cell phones also allow students to access both basic and scientific calculators. This is very affordable for all students because there are free calculator apps available. Cell phones have many tools that can help students academically. Article two, clearly states that student cell phones in schools are a distraction; however, if educators tapped into the student cell phone resource, such as academic apps, students could be less distracted and more academically focused.

Cell phones help students communicate more efficiently. Article one supports students using cell phones to communicate with each other by text messaging missing assignments for friends that were absent from school. Because not all students copy notes from the board quickly, cell phones provide the opportunity to take a photo of notes not copied. This also allows the student to review the notes at a later time electronically. In today’s world, parents rely on cell phones to communicate with their student at all times, as well as, using the cell phone as a tool in case of emergency. Even in schools where cell phones are banned, 58% of students sent text messages during class according to Pew Internet research. Article 2 also states, that the Boaz, Alabama and Michigan Association of School board members agree that if students use cell phones responsibly and at the appropriate times, there is no reason to ban student cell phones in school.

After reading both articles, it is evident students should be allowed to use cell phones during their academic day. The articles support using cell phone to assist in learning and using electronic app as well as communicating efficiently. Cell phones should be allowed in schools.

After twenty years of teaching history and ESL for Lowell High School, Miriam Morgenstern is quitting her job for multiple reasons. One of Morgenstern’s reasons for quitting is her students and their cell phones, she explains her frustration, “The texting, tweeting, and snapchatting during class time are ‘an incredible distraction, and makes it much more difficult to teach,’ she said. ‘It’s pretty hard to compete with a very funny YouTube video.’” It is unacceptable that students are using their phones while the teacher…

After reviewing Sheyenne's cell phone policy and researching the benefits and drawbacks of cell phones, I urge you to revise the cell phone policy, and allow more cell phone use in the school. Cell phones are permitted in certain parts of the school, but the technology needs to be integrated into the classrooms. With this incorporation of technology in the classroom it can provide more depth in the lesson, and collaboration among students. Some teachers may see the use of cell phones in the classroom as disrespectful. They perceive this as disrespectful, for they took time to prepare the lesson, and the student is not paying attention. In actuality the student is not disturbing others, and if they decide to not pay attention,…

There is more than one side to the debate about cell phone availability during school. One claim is that students should be allowed to have their phones on them and use their cell phones during appropriate times. In the article, the authors provide details about how there are numerous reasons why cell phones should be allowed during school. Students should be allowed access to cell phones, because if they are responsible enough to be going off to college in a year or so, they should be responsible enough to have a cell phone on them and use it wisely (George and Cook). Another reason why cell phones should be allowed in school is because otherwise it can create a divide between the students and the teachers. Another reason cell phones should not be banned in classrooms is because students can use them as a reminder or planner. Generally, cell phones have a calendar built in the device. In my biology class, I have a unit 5 test, unit portfolio assessment and a lab report due all on different days; I used my calendar app in my cell phone to be a reminder. Therefore, cell phones can remind me that I have assignments and tests coming up. This shows that a cell phone can benefit students in the classrooms.…

Technology is surrounding the world today, it is used in every aspect including hospitals, office buildings, and fire departments, even in schools. I feel there is no need to ban the use of cell phones in schools, they can help in many different ways. By keeping our community updated with all the new technologies out there will help make a more useful point to all of these new gadgets. Let’s face it, modern technology is fun, and students love to have fun. Moreover, if we bring that exciting technology into the classroom than we can create a more relaxed and enjoyable environment for the students and the teachers. For instance, instead of taking notes in class the students can record a lecture so that they could replay it back while doing homework. In addition, if in science the students do a lab experiment then they can take a video of that lab and replay it for homework and further understanding. Furthermore, classes can download a school program onto their phones and the teachers can use it in the classroom. According to a Speak Up survey, 62 percent of parents report that if their child’s school allowed cell phones to be used in school they would probably purchase a cell phone for their child. As a result, the school would not have to worry about supplying the students with phones, and most students…

Using cell phones during class is very common. It doesn’t matter to students that they are not allowed to use their cell phones while they are in class, they do it anyway. They often send text messages to each other and this can also distract them from their education, as well as distract the person they are texting, which is likely to be another student. Many people call this the new way of passing notes.…

Pretty much everywhere, cell phones are banned because most people say it's distracting. Teachers don't want kids texting in class when they're trying to teach them important things. But the truth about more modern phones is they can be a great learning tool. Students can use calculators (most likely not during math), stopwatches, timers, educational apps, the internet, and more with their mobile phones nowadays. School filters can connect with the wifi and be used to filter specific things that need to be filtered. Also, cell phones should also be used for safety. The employees at a school say you don't need…
