4. Reviews
T: Let’s have some recap. We discussed last meeting was about little introduction of chemistry right?

T: And so, what is chemistry?

T: Very Good. What else?

T: Very well said. So did you know what chemistry are? Right?

B. Motivation
T: Before we start our new lesson let’s have some game.
C. Discussion Proper
T: Today we will study the 7 branches of chemistry. So the first branch of chemistry is? Give me?

T: Very good. Organic chemistry is the study of the properties of the compounds of carbon that are organic.
T: Next is?

T: Good, So Inorganic chemistry is the study of the chemistry of materials from non-biological origins.
T: The third one?

T:Ok. Very Good. Analytical chemistry is the art and science of determining what matter is and how much of it exists. T: What’s next branch of chemistry? Give and Define.

T: Very Good! Biochemistry is the study of the chemicals of living systems and their interactions.
T: Okay The Next one?

T: Industrial Chemistry is the chemistry study of the

9/22/2011 Basic Chemistry Why are we studying chemistry? • Biology has chemistry at its foundation Elements • All matter composed of basic substances called elements • Living organisms require about twenty of the known elements Together, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen and oxygen make up 95% of the elements found in the body. Atoms • All elements made of tiny particles called atoms • Made up of: – Nucleus • contains protons (+ charge) and neutrons (no charge) – Outside the nucleus • Contains electrons (extremely small, - charge) – In an atom, # of protons =…

Importance of Chemistry Chemistry is an important branch of science. Chemistry deals with the matter that form our environment and the transformation that the matter undergoes. Chemistry is therefore, useful in understanding the changes taking place in the constituents of the environment and the resulting advantages. Chemistry is connected with composition, structure and properties of the matter. In fact it is a science of atoms and molecules. Organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, industrial chemistry and biochemistry are various branches of chemistry. Chemistry deals with compounds of atoms and their properties. We can understand how the compounds are formed by the forces between the atoms. Nature produces large number of compounds, while laboratories synthesize many new compounds. Chemistry is concerned with studying the properties of all these new compounds. The studies in chemistry in modern times has been greatly facilitated because of effective inter-linking of numerous facts and principles established from it. If any interrelated relationship is observed among many established facts it is explained by a mathematical equation. Such a relation or mathematical equation is called pro-principle. Such a proprinciple is termed 'principle' or law if it is found to be true when tested by several tests under different conditions. At every stage in life, we are connected with different aspects of chemistry directly or indirectly. Chemistry encirc{les} variety of fields, e.g., agriculture, food, medicines, fertilisers, alkalies, acids, salts, dyes, different polymers, soaps, detergents, metals, mixed-metals, samples of atmospheres, functioning of the minds and computer reactions. Thus, the knowledge of chemistry, in reality, is useful in different aspects of human life as well as in some destructive aspects.…

Applications of chemical science have contributed significantly to the advancement of human civilization (1, 2, 3). With a growing understanding and ability to manipulate chemical molecules, the post-World War II chemist was considered a societal problem solver. They synthesized crop-enhancing agricultural chemicals to ensure a constant and viable food supply. They played a significant role in the eradication of deadly diseases by developing life-saving pharmaceuticals and chemical pesticides. Chemists also developed innovative plastics and synthetic fibers for use in a both industrial and consumer products (1, 2, 3). The chemical industry has been a vital sector of the modern industrialized economy (2, 3). The chemical and allied manufacturing sectors in the United States employ over two million individuals. This accounts for approximately 11% of our nations manufacturing and industrial workers (4). The chemical manufacturing sector of the U.S.…

While we are discussing related to Chemistry, I cannot help myself to not be concentrated to the lessons. Because we have also other subject that have a difficult to self-study. But with the help of our teacher in science, she taught about chemistry this second grading. And again, I am thankful because I could understand what she is discussing. In my conclusion, Scientist is not an easy job. They are researching about helping the environment and searching for new discoveries to help people with sickness, environment problems or issues, chemicals to help us in our health or chemicals to prevent or curing a disease. I am grateful because they are there to help us in our surroundings and health. You know, I didn’t understand those organic or carbon compounds in a deeper meaning. All I know is they are chemicals like LPG, kerosene, alcohol and gasoline. And I know now that calcium carbide…
