7 Habits Research Paper
The habit from The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens that will be the most help for success is To Begin With The End in Mind. The reasoning behind this is, if I begin with my goal in mind, my determination will kick in and nothing can stop me from reaching that goal. I can do just about anything as long as I start thinking about my goal and what I need to do to reach it. When I begin with the end in mind, I start with the end, or goal, in mind and work my way to it. When I set my mind to my goal, the tasks ahead may be difficult and they may take time, they may tire me out and I may have thoughts of giving up, but I do not. I keep going because I know in my mind and in my heart that the goal I am working so diligently for will make it all be worth it. Whether that goal be small, such as making a certain grade in a semester or even on a test, or big, such as making it to or through college with perfect grades. My goals currently include making it through high school, going to college, and then achieving my dream of becoming a professional bowler. If I begin with the end in mind I can make it to my goals one step at a time. Before I can even think about college, I have to make it through high school. My goals are to pass each class one year at a time. Not just to pass, but to work hard so my grades are the best they …show more content…
As for which one, that is still undecided. The main reason why my choice of college is undecided is because my major is undecided. I do have it narrowed down to about two though, I either will major in art of some sort or I could end up majoring in one of the electronics field such as robotics. Another thing I have set a goal for in college is to be on a college bowling team. There are many colleges across America that offer bowling. I will need to keep this goal in mind as I do my school work, because if I work hard and keep up with my classes, college will be a piece of

The importance of this first step cannot be overstated. What it demands is that you articulate as specifically as possible the target you are aiming form, your final destination. By not setting a goal that is clear and specific, a student coming into the university or registering for a class or joining any social, religious or political network has put the cart before the horse and God knows where that will lead. Steve Covey (1999) uses the analogy of how one follows a blueprint when building a house. In Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Covey further relates that a good way to achieve success in any endeavor is “to begin with the end in mind.”A pilot who takes off from Enugu Airport has the flight’s end in mind; the taxi driver who…

I approach everything step by step....I had always set short-term goals. As I look back, each one of the steps or successes led to the next one. When I got cut from the varsity team as a sophomore in high school, I learned something. I knew I never wanted to feel that bad again....So I set a goal of becoming a starter on the varsity. That’s what I focused on all summer. When I worked on my game, that’s what I thought about. When it happened, I set another goal, a reasonable, manageable goal that I could realistically achieve if I worked hard enough....I guess I approached it with the end in mind. I knew exactly where I wanted to go, and I focused on getting there. As I reached those goals, they built on one another. I gained a little confidence every time I came through.…

Hello, I am currently a junior in college. This has been my third at Houston community college. I initially started off by wanting to be a Dental Hygienist but later I started to realize it was not something I was passionate about. I soon came to the conclusion that I want to be an elementary school teacher. In the beginning I was thinking about money rather than a degree I would be dedicated to. I graduated high school back in 2011 and to be honest college was never in my panorama. After graduating I got my first job at Family dollar and that was my wake up call. I realized that I would not be able to live an abundant life getting paid minimum wage. I knew that if I wanted to make a difference in my life, I would have to go back to school.…

Where I wanted to go to college, was a question that loomed over my head for most junior year and the summer before senior year. Deciding where you want to go to college is a major milestone decision, one which I carefully thought over. I knew I wanted to attend a liberal arts college, because I believe the mind is a garden that requires cultivation. I knew I wanted to be in an environment that really pushed me to think conceptually and without censor. When Brandeis University, in Waltham, Massachusetts, came up in my college search, I was immediately intrigued. Brandeis has a long history of promoting social justice and giving back to the community, so I was delighted when I got my acceptance letter in February!…

Stephen Covey’s book “The 7 habits of highly effective people” will help me in a number of different ways in the year to come. Not only with being effective in my career, but also my personal life and graduate school. Covey talks about character and personality traits, and uses a great example of being in Chicago and having excellent map and reference skills, but if you have a map of Detroit you will not be able to find your way around no matter how good your secondary skills are. This is a great example of how it is necessary to possess the primary elements, before your secondary skills can be used effectively.…
