On the 19th April 1995, 6 years prior to 9/11, a terrorist attack was carried out on the Alfred P.Murrah Federal Building in Oklohoma. The bombing killed 168 people and injured more than 680. The blast destroyed or caused damage to buildings within a 16 block radius which lead to an estimated cost of $652 million. Although it wasn’t as large and devastating an attack as 9/11 the Oklohoma bombing still had a direct impact towards the US economy as it led to share holders no longer wanting to buy into local companies near the blast and losing trust in the stock market. Moreover the attack didn’t have a detrimental effect on the stock markets around the world as it wasn’t a massive plot and was the first of its kind so it failed to raise any serious concern outside of the United States.
