A Case Against Standardized Testing

Why does the state give students standardized tests? Ask yourself this: Does standardized test really help students? Does it truly challenge the summary of a student’s knowledge? No.
It is true that one of the main reasons for standardized tests is to see if students have learned their TEKS and basic curriculum; however, the tests should not weigh so harshly on a student’s grade in the decision of pass or fail. Some students are just bad test takers. Some students have extreme anxiety when taking tests. Some students don’t perform well under pressure. At the beginning of the school year, students who feel extreme pressure from exams are enrolled in classes with a standardized test at the end of the course begin to worry. According to the
