Genesis 1:14-19 says, “And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.’ And it was so. And God made the two great lights—the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night…And God saw that it was good” (English Standard Version). The world is also intelligible. Life is evident through nature and through people. The Bible says that we are created in God’s image, and he is without question an intelligible being. The world, however, was good and perfect before Genesis 3. As a result of the fall of man sin entered the world. There are several verses that discuss not loving the world or worldly possessions (Romans 12:2 and 1 John 2:15). The world was originally designed for our pleasure, and we can still see and enjoy God’s beauty and power through the earth, but as a Christian this is not home. There is a better place for us. Revelations 21:1-4 says, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband” (English Standard Version). As humans we are born full of emotions and as we grow we continuously learn and develop. For a Nihilist to argue that in order to know truth we have to remove emotions and any outside influences is to say that we have to destroy ourselves to know truth. As previously stated, for Nihilists to argue that no one is intelligent including themselves is contradictory. Obviously a Nihilist is intelligent to a certain degree. Nihilism is also contradictory by saying that it separates itself from a deity and other religions, but by being a Nihilist someone still chooses to see life as a certain way.
