All in all, the model of psychoanalysis remains most significant for me. The idea of using techniques to pursue the deep rooted issues that create our behaviours is invaluable in social care. Freud’s theory has its strengths and weaknesses and many theorists used and build on this to form other psychological concepts. Although many theorists criticised Freud's work, most of the theory's that followed seem to be in some way influenced by his work. Other theories such as CBT and client centred theory although have very different approaches, they are important for dealing with problems or disorders too. Not all individuals are suited to one treatment. This theory will be a great aid to my career in my work in social care.
